person shld avoid lifting heavy weights, should do back exercises, while bending down to pick up objects should bend down at knees and not at back... person shld try and sleep on flat hard surface... can take some analgesics like tylenol or vicodin, and some anti spamodics to relieve the spasm of muscles surrounding the spine and to give relief frm pain... previously it was advised to do strict bed rest but now its advised to do mild exercise...can consult a physiotherapist who would suggest you some good exercises for ur spine... try and maintain good posture while sitting..

Hi, I am new on here so I hope that i am But, I know how pain ijn your back can almost stop your life as you know it. I have a bad back and I had to have surgery on my L4_L5 they had to take out the disks and then fuse then use bolts to hold it to gether. the bone was suppost to fuse but it never did now i have to have another surgery. So be careful very careful if you have to ever have surgery. The pain in my back is much worse now. Just take it easy and donot push yourself. Good luck
