Your Child Reputation

Hi I was just wondering if you ever try to protect your childs rep. For instance today I allowed my son to go play basketball afterschool with his friends. I told him to come straight home at 6 pm. I then noticed at 5 it was already dark. (season changed) So I drove down there to pick him up. Well instead of saying its to dark. I said I have to go somewhere so I had to pick u up. When he got in the car I explained to him it is to dark for him to be outside. I didnt want to embarress him in front of his friends. Kids can be so cruel and ruthless making fun of one a nother. Do other parents do this?

it's a good thing to do as a parent kids can be cruel especially teenager. they got embarassed easily
