Is Microsoft's IE synonym for internet?

I am looking at the icon for internet here on mylot and I am thinking, is really Internet Explorer's icon right for this interest? I say - no. I agree that IE is used by the most internet users. But many also use Mozilla Firefox or Safari, so Internet Explorer is losing the fight. If I chose a logo for the internet here on my lot I would chose Google because google is something we all use (I hope we do...). So what do you think, what would you choose for represent the internet?
