Sleeping while traveling

I hardly sleep while I am traveling. I do drive most of the time. However, at times when somebody else is driving or when I take the bus, I can't sleep. Yeah, even if I feel a little drowsy. I don't know why. While on plane or aboard a ship, I can sleep like a baby. But for some reasons, when traveling on land, I can't sleep. How about you?

I can't sleep while traveling in a car. I guess I want to know if I'm going to be in an accident or going to die. I'm a back seat driver also.

Hi dolce, I'm a sleeping girl in any trip..Sometimes,when I am new to the place, I wanted to stay awake so I can view the environment and take some picture if possible but, I can't control it, I will just sleep! LOL!

If I have a comfortable bunk to lay on with my sleeping bag or a blanket I can sleep really soundly on a train. I like to listen to the noise the train makes and I find this experience so relaxing. In the morning I arrive at my destination feeling quite refreshed. I have done inter railing in Europe and slept in compartments with 5 other people. There were 3 bunks on each side and I liked the top bunk most of all. I have been on trains in Kenya in compartments made for 2 people in first class and 4 people in second class. I find it more challenging to sleep sitting upright in a bus or plane with little leg room. My baby son and I recently went on an overnight bus trip from Vilnius to Tallinn. We got the front seat on the top deck and it was a tiring journey. The next day I felt really tired. I have slept in a bunk on a ship and with rough waves the bunks were rocking from side to side. I prefer to sail on calm seas. Sometimes I have got some sleep whilst traveling in a car but have not felt all that comfortable. Happy traveling.

Maybe you are conscious on things might possibly happen. I do sleep when traveling due to long hours spent on the bus to reach my destination. I need fond of sleep that's why i did.

I only ever travel on land, my hubby has to do all the driving because I do not drive! I do get really tired while travelling, especially if we are going on holiday, usually due to the anti sickness tablets that I take. But with him being the only driver I would feel cruel just going to sleep on him so I battle and stay awake!

For me, it depends on where I am going, but I usually have no problems sleeping in a Car, train, plane, etc. if I am going a longer ways. Since I do from time to time have problems with motion sickness, it makes it easier for me to go to sleep on the longer trips as well. And since I do not drive, I never have to worry about not being able to sleep as well. There have been times though that when I am the passenger I have had to stay away though to help keep the driver awake as well.

I love to travel too, but sleeping is not for me when I travel to land, sea and air..I just don't feel sleepy when I travel and even naps are hard for me to do. I wish I can sleep on long hours of travelling but I really cannot do that... I make all the sleeping first thing when I reach my destination..

I don't drive (i'm just learning) so i can sleep on journeys if i want and i usually do if they are long ones. However i recently got contact lenses and you're not supposed to slep with them in as they get dry and stick to your eyeball, so i try to keep awake but i guess a few hours doesn't hurt too much!

I can sleep well on planes and in cars. I have trouble sleeping on the bus or on a train, though. I've found recently, though, that I rarely sleep on the plane. I'm usually excited to be getting to where I'm going, or I can't get comfortable. I sit near the window on almost every flight, so I'm usually looking at the landscape below. :)

Hie Dolce_vita, since I don't drive, I normally would be awake to keep a good company to the person who is drivingBut if I am at the back seat, I would doze off for sure. Traveling on trips I would be too excited to sleep though especially on moving vehicles. Well! On the air, I don't find too comfortable to sleep on the seat & also with the stewardess serving meals frequently. It is amazing how most people could sleep. Cheers,

Hi dolce_vita! Oh, it is very different with me. I can sleep whenever I am traveling be it by air, land or sea especially when I am sleepy and tired. But I can not sleep if there is a typhoon or it is raining hard while I am traveling. That is scary for me and I will be wide awake for sure. Take care and God Bless!

We're exact opposites!!! I can't sleep when on the plane, but I sleep well enough once I'm at the hotel. I know a lot of people, such as my mom, can't sleep very well if they're far from home. Perhaps your sleeping problem has to do with too much excitement? Maybe you have so many destinations in mind that you can't relax enough.

well of course its difficult to sleep while traveling...first the problem of jumps....then problem of space....there isn't any space on your seat to take even a nap....and suppose by some means u do get a nap then what a sudden jerk pushes u out of ur sleep....
