Well as usual I had a sort of busy weekend again. My neice and her boyfriend and her two kids visited this weekend. The kids are a 5 year old girl who's a doll and a 10 year old boy. they went to valleyfair Amusement Park all day Saturday then stayed the night here. Sunday morning we all went to our local free zoo, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory. I forgot my camera too dang it. Anyhow we had a blast at the zoo for about 5 hours seeing all kinds of neat animals, seeing the Sparky The Seal show. We have the grandsons next weekend so we are going back to Como Zoo and Conservatory with them all day Sunday and this time I will bring my camera. the conservatory has some awesome plants and flowers etc that I want to share. So was your's also a family orientated weekend? When was the last time you went to a zoo?

I have not been to a zoo in a long time but I do love them. We don't have a zoo close by. I do have many pictures though that my daughter has taken from the Ft.Worth zoo and a zoo in Waco, both in Texas. A few years ago I did go to Fossil Rim up close to where my daughter lives, a friend her two boys, my grandson and I went. It is really a good place to go. You drive through and the animals are out and about, you can also buy food for them and feed them out the window.

The animals here in the zoos are fenced in not caged. Most are that way. You ealk around and they are roaming free throught the area. The best was the wolf display.
Thanks for the photo as well.

Yes, that is the only type of zoo I have been to since I was a little girl. When I was little I guess that is the only way they knew how to do it, then figured out that the more natural to their own environment the better off for them and I totally agree. Here is one from the Ft.Worth zoo.

I went to the zoo last summer. My kids are due for another trip this summer but hours at my job are getting to me. I'm working too much and I don't have a lot of time left over. But if I didn't work my bills wouldn't get paid. It's a vicious cycle. Family day has to be planned soon!!

That sounds like a wonderful weekend! I haven't been to a zoo for decades and I really want to head up to the Columbus zoo, it was a fantastic place as I remember it. I know Mom would love to do that, too. We need to get out and do something. Most of my weekend was spent working, either writing or taking care of the yard. I need to get out and have some fun!

Ours is almost always family oriented weekends. It's just the three of us here in Alabama. All our family live in other states. This weekend we were going hiking but got rained out so went to a movie instead. We saw Hancock.
I love taking pictures of animals and flowers. I always have my camera when we go hiking. We tried to go to a zoo on our Gatlinburg trip but it was a rain forest zoo and instead of having the snakes all in one place, they said they were everywhere throughout the zoo. I am deathly afraid of snakes, so much so that I can't even watch them on television. I told my husband and son that they could go ahead and view the zoo but they didn't want to do it without me. I'm the zoo person in the family anyway..lol.
We want to go to the Knoxville zoo one of these months when we go with the hubby for his class in Nashville. We can zip over there after the class is done. That's the plan anyway.

I have not been to the Minnesota Zoo in many years here. Actually this is the first time I've been to any zoo since just before my mom passed away 12 years ago. I miss going but now I will have gone 2 weekends in a row. Glad you had a great weekend even though the snakes did not get a chance to cross your path.

You be sure to get more pics of that conservatory, in case I missed seeing any of it. I just spent time with hubby this weekend and that is all that I did. We went to a nearby lake for a little bit last night.

That sounds like it is right up my alley. All my weekends seem to be family-filled weekends- My daughter is 11 :)
We went to Marineland and saw all the dolphins, whales, and they even have Black Bears... it was cool- We go to the Rochester Zoo each summer- at least twice a summer- My daughter still loves it. We will have to plan another trip there- it's not free though- there is nothing like that here that is free- I wish there was.

You know, I don't remember the last time I went to a zoo, probably around 15 years. Hold, a hockey team might count as a zoo? What do you think?

Hello Grandpa Bob! We went to the Cape May Zoo when we were down at the beach last month. It's a nice zoo and it's free. We probably hit some sort of zoo, usually Philly, about once a year- I know we should go more.
This weekend was family oriented for me. We took the kids fishing and they had quite a good time. Then we had a really nice lunch (no, we didn't eat the fish!). It was so blasting hot we went to a very nice, air conditioned restaurant.

I went to the Como Park Zoo, while up there, and the conservatory. I thought I posted pics, but they might have been to another site. I did not get to go in the butterfly garden, at least not this time, so I hope you get some good pictures for us to see.

I think you're an awesome grandfather grandpa Bob!! You're creating wonderful memories for your grandkids to tell their kids when they grow up. That is fantastic!! I have such wonderful memories of my mom's parents and will cherish them till the day I leave this earth!! The only regret I have is I never got around to recording my grandmothers stories of her childhood days. Please, record your voice for the kids to hear when they're older. It'll be the best gift you could ever give!! Trust me on that!

This was my great-neice and gret-nephew that went with us.
But I do make things happen that my grandsons will never forget as well.
I don't think the boys can ever forget my voice. Hahaha! Thanks also.
BTW I am working on those mugs. You want State mugs or any type
Mug that has the State mentioned on them?

I'm sorry for the mistake but yeah you're making wonderful memories!! lol
The coffee mugs, yes with the state name on them, it could be telling about the state such as when it became a state and what the state flower is and so on OR it could be something right pretty such as a bunch of flowers or a scene of some sort, something pretty. Hope that made sense.... lol

hi grandpa bob sounds like you had a lovely time visiting with your neice and her boyfriend and her two kid. You know we have
a free zoo in Santa Ana just a bus ride away and I have not'been there in years.I always loved goingto the zoo. I have been such a stick in the mud lately with these darned shingles, I just did not want to get dressed and go anywhere as clothes rub on all my sore spots. but I must go see the zoo again as they have expanded it a bit over the last couple of years. my weekend was for the pits as I saw my doctor and he gave me a prescription to get rid of the last of the shingles.well went to get it filled and they had to order it so cannot get it until this afternoon. darn.so I am mylotting until time to calll access for a cab and get my medication. lol happy postings back at you.

Sounds like fun! This past weekend we set up at the Tupelo Flea Market (about 50 miles from here). Not a whole lot of fun but my husband needed to get some sales. Besides we got to eat at a couple of good restaurants. I have not been to the zoo in about 4 yrs. The closest zoo is Memphis and its a pretty nice zoo. I love to go there but my husband doesn't seem interested. He travels all week on his job so he wants to rest on the weekend. Mom gets tired of doing that much walking too. Maybe when it gets cooler I can talk them into going.

Sounds like a great weekend AGB! Are we going to the zoo and conservatory when i come across? I had a mixed weekend, with my eldest away we had my foster niece Friday and Saturday and then on Sunday my youngest went to stay at my sisters so it got very quiet - blissfully so! lol xxx

My son is here now. He shows up quite often on the weekends. He lives about two hours away. I haven't been to the zoo in forever. Originally I am from just outside a big city where the zoo was a short 30 min. drive. Now I have to drive across the state to go to one. As for family, we are very close, always together. We don't usually go places just visit and eat together! An I always forget my camera too!
