When I was young I never knew there would be a state called sleepless ness.I was too happy play all day sleep used to come with out calling. sleep like log. Now umm .. I think a year or two passed suffering from insomnia. Not able to sleep. I tried all sorts but sleep would never come. More over I joined a meditation group where in it is said early in the morning we have to meditate that is good time for meditation. Alas that makes me more conscious I would be more alert during night and nick of the moment I sleep, never get up in time. All good time lost.
Finally atleast to make my time good I sit on the computer, surf for some time.

As a hypnotherapist, I have worked with many people who had trouble sleeping. You might try some self-hypnosis, or a meditation tape to relax. I am not a doctor, but I have found that Valerian root, Kava kava, Melatonin, and GABA, work well for sleep for many people. All of the above are natural.
I have had clients who used hypnosis (sometimes combined with one of the above mentioned remedies) and ended up getting off of sleeping pills. Sleep is very important for your body to repair and detoxify itself, so I hope you find somethng that works for you soon. You can message me if you have any questions.

There are many resources on the internet. Self hypnosis is much like meditation. There are also many books on the subject. Try Hypnosis.com, or just search "self hypnosis." It is very helpful and it was my first experience with hypnosis. You can buy CD's at bookstores on self hypnosis for sleep. Those are good, but it is better to have an experienced hypnotherapist make you a personalized CD that is made just for you.

I am much like you in many ways. In youth I never had trouble sleeping, could sleep anytime I decided to do it. Now, for a little less than a year I too have been suffering from insomnia. I have a meditation practice that I had learned many years ago and try to use it when ever possible, but it frustrates me and I fear I am losing my touch at meditation as well. Ultimately I will end up getting on the computer whenever I am unable to fall asleep. I do it in the dark because eventually my eyes get tired and I start feeling like I can fall asleep.
I need to do something about this soon. I can't get along well without much sleep.

There is some body like me...God. Thanks for the comment. I heard yogis that is who meditate can remain happy even with out sleep and food. Healthy too. I am normal trying my best to achieve it. I envy people who just say they only need 4 hours sleep. And very little food also. My in laws family most of them eat very less. you know what the funny thing is all of them are fatties. At the beggining, I sufferred a lot to get adjusted there. I use to eat very much... of course not at a time. Break fast was good, at my mom's place. And these people skip break-fast. My mother in law use to cook late on sundays. I was not allowed to cook in the morning. Only evenings I had to cook. So I never use to get break fast at the beggining. She used to say you eat, don't bother about us. But I use to feel ashamed to eat alone. Some how I learnt to skip break-fast drink some health drink...that was also observed....Ours was combined family. Ofcourse that was all past. Now my mother-in-law and father-in-law both passed away...I am only incharge....but I can not get my early days back is it not.
