What is the correct name for those half walls you see in cafes and stuff?

another question for my book, im explaining how the bookstore that my main character owns looks like, and i put one of those half walls, as a discription, but i want to know the correct way to say half wall. I would like my book to be very presice, if anyone would like to read some of my book so i can get soem good critizism please let me know, i want to know if im wasting my time or if i really have talent

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it is called a partition. Good luck on the book!

5. an interior wall or barrier dividing a room, area of a building, enclosure, etc., into separate areas.
thats the 5th definiton of the word partition, so i guess that is what it is, but would other people know what im talking about if i write that? thanks so much and i hope i do good in my book
