Dont we need a "Thank You" button in Mylot?

Since mylot rule says that there must not be a post made for saying "thanks" alone, but we actually do want to thank the people who have responded us, dont you all feel it would be very nice if we have a "thankyou" button at the end of each comment (like how we have the rating box) and we could just click on them to let the people know that their response has been noticed and thanked

Terrific idea. I really don't feel the need to say thank you all the time. I like to think that it is a given that we are all grateful for what was said or that someone took the time to comment. However a thank you button would be a wonderful contribution to myLot and a nice and simple way to let people know we appreciate them. Did you know that on your profile page people can send personal notes of appreciate or other sentiments? At least they use to be able to; I have not looked at mine in awhile so maybe this as changed but I doubt it. Just not everyone knows how to use that feature. Do you?

Sharay, I personally go in and thank every person that responds to my posts. Every time someone comments on my post, I will go in and respond back so that they know that I read it, and at the end I will put "Thanks for the response :D". I do the same thing with every post that I respond to. I thank the people that take the time to post discussions as well. I think a Thank You button would take away from the one on one feeling you get when you personally respond. I sort of feel that a Thank You button would make me feel very lazy and it would take away from the community. But to each his own :P Thanks for the post :D

yeah even i do that, like how i am responding to your post now, but i dont have anything more to say to your response other than a simple thanks, a thankyou button would help me there...thats why i felt a need for it

I guess it would make sense to have a "Thank You" button if it meant that you didn't have anything in particular to add to a post but you wanted to say Thank You. However, I feel that it would end up getting taken advantage of in the sense that people may stop responding all together and just hit the "Thank You" button. Thanks for the response :D

I think a Thank you button would be wonderful, I'm new and I'm still not sure how to contact those that respond to me, so I'd love an easy way to doso. I really appreciate their time. Thank you

i know that would be great since like you said you cant just put "thanks" and even though i try to thank them and put in a few words but some times there is just nothing to say other than thanks and i hate not saying anything at all

yes, i totally agree with you. i do hope that the mylot staff would hear this suggestion and make amends to mylot. it would really help all mylot users. it's for our convenience and our gratefulness to the people who respond to our discussion... because it seems not right or improper not to acknowledge people who respond to our discussions.

I think another way of saying thank you is pressing the + button below the comment of the person. It's a positive rating for the comment and it's more than enough I guess. I'd appreciate however if myLot allows us to see how many positive ratings we got on a certain post.

but you are not going to know who had rated you a + right, but the thanks system is totally different

While a thank you button would be nice, we are all on here with the same goal and should just know that we all appreciate the efforts we make to help each other out. A giant thank you should just be understood from one to all.

Hi friend, thats nice. I always try to thank my friend those who are responded to my discussions. So i always leave a comment connected to their response and give them thanks at last. If i don't give a comment, it feels incomplete for me. Thanks

Looks like I better read the rules all the way through,as every time I got a best response I went back and said a simple "thanks!" The only thing is,that might mean another MyLot notification email in your inbox.. For now,I just (+) a responder who's making a positive contribution,or respond to their post if there's something I want to say...

since we are not supposed to say "thanks" alone, i felt a thanks button would be appropriate

I would like to see that on here. I think that it is wrong that we can't just write a thank you on here anyway. It is only respectful to let people know that you read what they said and that you appreciate what they said. Maybe you should mention this idea to the administration here and see where you get with the idea.

This does sound cool...but I would still like to type a thank you because it gives a more personal touch....and alongwith a thanks we also add in a few more words.

I totally agree with you, sharay! It is the most convenient way of appreciating those people who responded to our started discussion. I also suggest, in addition to "Thank You" button another one for "You are Welcome". LOL. Seriously, myLot should noticed it and really add some buttons for common phrases and expressions like the ones we have mentioned. That would really be cool!

Never mind what the rules say…I always write a thank you to each and every respondents to my discussions if I have the time. If I don’t, then I just start a discussion saying thank you to all those who have responded.

Its a great idea. Since we can't made post saying thanks alone than its really great if we have a thank you button to at least let that person know that we appreciate the response.

I think something like that would be nice. I also wish we could automatically tahnk people for giving us a best response. I would like something like that. It would make life on my lot that much easier. I like websites that make things easy for you cuz I'm not too quick on the uptake sometimes.

i meant for all the responses, a normal one or a special one, and also, for a special response, we would have somthing to write for them more than a thankyou right

that is a good idea. Well, I have been hearing about not to write thank you to the one who respond our discussion. so what are we going to say in a return comments? We should not say thank you to them for responding us? or shall we write more words than thank you alone?
@sharay (2769)

yeah..they do expect us to write more than just a thankyou

Well, I supposed mylot knows what is better and they will of course not make a rule that will not be for a good purpose. This is I suppose is purposed to generate a better and healthier discussions here because I myself will feel happier if aside from a thank you note I will also receive further comments on what I wrote. Imagine, if I tried hard to answer to the best of my ability and wit then I just receive, 'thank you' in return then it does not seem to complete my day. Actually as I could understand, we can say thanks but we should also acknowledge what is in her comment that we find useful or any other comments we could give regarding the comment.

you have a good point there, but what if the responses you recieve are just one word or one liners which dont have much to offer you, in that case where you would not have anything to reply them, a thank you button would be of a huge help right
