Well I am an outsider too...well kind of....I am a Vikings fan and it's always a big deal when we play the packers....but this is the second time he has done this...I would say enough is enough. But I am not the coach....or owner...but I really think that he is past his prime. Last year he played one game when the weather was cold and he looked like he was about to cry when he left the field. Maybe he should find something else to do!

Thanks for your response. And let me say D'oh, I forgot the Bay in Green Bay.I think the problem is that Bret can Only play football. He has nothing else. And that is sad.if it is true that the suits wanted him out but didn't have the guts to say so, then they deserve this. But if they wanted Bret back and so some stupid reason Bret "retired", then it is all Bret's fault.

Well, I am not a Green Bay Packer Backer (Go Bears), but I did enjoy watching Brett Favre play the game. Brett is a very emotional guy. I think that he thought his team was going to the Superbowl last January. Oops...he threw one of those interceptions he has a record for throwing and there went the Superbowl. I think he felt totally responsible for losing to the future Superbowl champs and let his emotions do his thinking and talking for him, thus he retired from the game he loves to play. As we all know, he had second thoughts about retiring and is now unretired. I don't know why he didn't want to play for Green Bay again, but he made it clear from the getgo this year that he was looking for another team. Maybe because he knew the Pack was going with Rodgers as their starting QB. I cannot fathom Packer management not wanting Favre as their starter! I just don't get that. Did Favre play games with them...absolutely. Apparently they have decided not to forgive Brett for talking to other teams and now they have granted him his trade. There is likely more going on with Green Bay management and Brett Favre. Who knows, maybe Aaron Rodgers is the next coming of Brett Favre, but I truly doubt it! He is a New York Jet now, so maybe the Jets will garnish more press in that city than the Giants.
Of course, he is 38 years old now, but I am sure he will still make the game so much fun to watch! I'll probably get to see him play more now that he is not in the same division as my team. The New York press is going to have such fun writing about Brett Favre.
PEACE

Of course I like it when the teams in the Bears division lose. I am sure Green Bay will try to put the best team they can on the field, even minus a legend.
I am a football fan and respect good competition. Remember Joe Montana of the 49ers? Steve Young was drafted by the 49ers and had to watch Montana as QB for quite a few years. Then Joe retired and Young picked up right where Montana left off. A lot of people do speak very highly of Aaron Rodgers and do think he will be impressive. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I too am an outsider but I will say this: The media needs to quit talking about Favre. It's like they're so obsessed with him, I wouldn't be surprised if they had golden Favre statues and worshipped the ground he walks on. Well, maybe not all the media but the ones that try to make him out as the victim of this whole ordeal. As for my take on this, it is sickening and it was getting ridiculous and couldn't go a day without Brett Favre coverage.
They just traded him to the Jets. It was going to get ugly no matter what happened and I don't believe the Packers intended on having Favre start after what he's done with his game of to retire or not to retire. My thoughts are if you have no intentions of retiring, then don't say you will. He said he wasn't forced out but now he says he was, talk about credibility being questioned right there.
To answer the question, I really don't care at this point. Brett Favre I think has made himself out to look like a fool in this whole ordeal.

I don't think he looks like a fool, a liar maybe but not a fool. I still feel there is something missing, the real reason he couldn't play for green Bay.I think in time we will find out what was behind all this.

My theory is it having to do with the whole retirement game he had been playing the last few years as part of the reason. That's what I believe it is to some degree and another was something that probably nobody knows about. The whole situation could have been avoided and again I blame that part on Favre for playing everyone for fools.
Only reason I called him a fool on this was for his actions. He is a liar and I do agree on that as well. Say he decides to retire, I really doubt anyone will take him seriously on that and think he's just saying it to get out of a team.

An open competition is another way of saying Favre is the starter. There is no way Rodgers will look better than Favre. They would be better off trading Rodgers and getting Brett to play for a couple years while they get the new rookies ready. That is what Wolfe always did. Aaron Brooks, Ty Detmer, Mark Brunnell, why not Rodgers.

That makes sense and it is what they should ave done the moment Brett said he wanted to come back.I am sorry you are not in the main office.

It is a mess. I am a Packer fan and I look at it like this: if he wants to play the packers need to bring him in and let him play for them. If he can't beat out Rodgers than trade him, if he can than he starts. In no way can I see them just releasing him, if they trade him and get at least something, maybe I could live with that but I would rather just see him play. I have a funny feeling he will be playing for the pack again, did anyone else notice the Packers don't have a qb on the team that has ever started an NFL game? If they were really writing him off don't you think they would have signed at least one veteran to have on the bench?

You are so right. When a team has a rookie QB, they usually have a vet as his backup. If The Packer's suits thing Bret could be a vet backup, then they need to leave Green Bay.

Everyone here in Wisconsin would want him back and starting. I want him back no doubt about it. The Packers should not trade him because they probably will not get anything for him. Aaron Rodgers will never be as good Brett Favre and if Aaron Rodgers loses his first game he will be in the most pressure anybody has has

It is hard to follow a legend but this is impossible. If he loses, there will be boos and the fans will wonder why they let Brett go. If he wins there will be some who will still say he isn't like Breet Favre. It is a lose-lose cituation.
