Yes, you should definitely go and check it out at least once! You might find a world of help there- not to mention some new good friends who share an interest with you. Oh, by the way, I got your email with the first section of your story. I'll send an email back with my response later tonight, okay? I got a bit bogged down at work, so I couldn't finish it then.

I joined the writing group in my town 4 years ago. They also meet twice a month at the library, but we have gone so much further than that. We share information we find online, we go to seminars and workshops together, we meet other authors, and we really are a great bunch of friends who enjoy each other's company. It is better to share your work with writers in a group than to post it online. I am wary about people stealing my ideas from online, but also any work online is considered published and in most cases is not eligible for contests. The writing group has been the best thing for me. My writing has improved ten-fold, I am more motivated to write, and I have made some great friends. Check out the two articles I wrote on the subject: http://www.writinghood.com/Writing/10-Benefits-of-Joining-a-Writing-Group.72571 http://www.writinghood.com/Writing/How-to-Start-and-Manage-a-Writing-Group.80233 I'm not suggesting you start your own group. If you have one to join then go for it. If it doesn't work out, if you don't gel well with the people, you can always start your own. Joining a writing group has been the best thing that has happened to me to help me reach my dream of becoming a published author. Good luck to you!

Hi libertarianfreedom21, You should join your towns writers group not because you have writing a book but because to sharpen your writing skills. You will be meeting other writers and you can interact with them and get few more ideas. I am also a writer(In my mother tounge - Telugu) and I have written 4 short stories and 3 big stories which were published in some leading magazines. I am a member of my city's writers guild and my experience of interacting with them paved way for me to improve my writing. so, don't hesitate - join as soon as possible. Good Luck.
