How many of u switch of ur computer desktop monitor when u are not using... i recently started switching of my desktop monitor. when not in use for more than 5 minutes.. hope this will cut short some usage of electricity...though not a big percentage... but something is better than nothing right...

Short of the occasional reboot, my PC hasn't been turned off in perhaps 7 months. But then, it's always in use; there's traffic of some kind going up/down the line.

hi... my question was not about switching off the whole computer... but just the monitor alone..

I do not turn off mine either unless it is in the sleep mode. I do not think it would save much on the electric bill since the pc is always in use at my house.
