Well, if you ask me, no. In my opinion, I'd still choose to live peacefully. I mean yeah, you get all the perks of being a star but nah. I can't stand the limelight. I'm the type who doesn't really like attention. It's enough that my sister is in showbiz. I don't really want anything to do with that. I value my privacy if you know what I mean.. Can't imagine people running after me asking me zillions of questions. Hehe. How bout you guys?

Nooo way. I wouldn't want to be a movie star even if you paid me as much as... as... any of the really popular celebrities are getting. Seriously, my privacy is super important, and I would be horrible for the cameras. I'd be rude and push them out of the way, I would ignore them, and I would start telling people off for getting in my private space, and how would they like it if I got in theirs? So my short answer is: no thanks. I'll stick to being an author if I can. I can hide behind books and no one will care, hehe.

well of course i will grab that chance, everyone loves to be a movie star ;) but the question is, will i stand the cruelty in showbiz i mean the gossips which is not true, the tight schedule everyday that i can't even have time for my self & family etc.. yeah being a star is being famous, but will you risk your privacy for the fame?

Nope.. I would never risk my privacy for fame... I've always been a secretive person... and definitely showbiz is not my cup of tea.

Yes, but only if I get to act in Sci-Fi, Horror, and Comic Book films ONLY! I do not want to be in Action, Romance, Drama, or Comedy films, and I would do what Johnny Depp is doing. I would live in another country.

I have never gave it much thought. I don't think I would want the publicity and the stalkers and the popperatzi after me. I would just like to be able to live comfotably and pay my bills. I would not like not having my privacy. I would be concerned for my families safety at all times.

A movie star yes. If I had my years back I might of desired to be smart enough or bold enough to leave my securities and follow my dreams. I never had the know how to know that I could. A movie star of today with all that lime light no. I wouldn't want that. Yes I admit a tiny portion of it would be nice but I would never want to be followed as stars are today. It is sad and ridiculous. This is why I have never bought any magazines. I use to watch entertainment shows to hear about what job movie stars were doing next or a little news on them but when these shows became out and out gossip shows I had to finally stop. I just refuse to be a part of that. Oh I am not perfect at not watching sometimes but 80 percent of the time I don't. We have no right to their every day momemt by moment personal lives.

I know... Just like Angelina and Brad Pitt's case. I mean, people are all over them. I can't imagine people dissecting my life down to the smallest detail.

I also ment to say about this that not all movie stars are in the lime light. I do realize that some of this craziness is because of their popularity but some movie stars make it a point to live out side of hollywood to get away from that kind of thing. Some of them thrive on the attention and some do it just to make them selves more popular for the purpose to make more and more money. So I do think it is possibly to be a big star and stay out of the public eye as much as possible and not have every detail of your life documented. If you think of all the big stars you can see many of them succeed in this. They get the publicity when they want it or need it. Others like Britney create this termoil and then it becomes something out of their control and they recent it. I don't know there are so many factors in this. We are all the problem I guess because magazines pay big bucks for this stuff and the consumer buys it. It is a vicious circle.

I would like to try it but I really value my privacy and I think that I can't stand all the intrigue and all the insincere people who actually use you to gain profit for their own. I am also in the entertainment sector as a magician but at least there there is less intrigue and more sincere people.

Well, the thought crossed my mind years ago! lol I thought it was cool to be famous and rich. But just like you, I later on realized that I want to live peacefully without people prying with my privacy. It's something that is priceless and definitely worth having than all the riches in the world combined. :)

Well, my whole life I've dreamt of being a singer, and I have wanted to be out there, doing my thing and being seen for my talent. Sure, the privacy stuff freaks me out if I think about it too much, but personally, I don't really care what people think about me, well, kinda but not enough to care about what the idiot tabloids would make up.
So yea, I would definitey LOVE to be a movie star and a singer! Basically a superstar. I have heard a lot of the bad parts, and I have thought about it for so long, and I still want it. My fear is actually not making it, I have started to work on my music, but it hasn't been that long, so I still have a lot to do till I can expect anythign big to happen.
I have always been pretty well behaved, so I wouldn't have a lot to hide, and I'm thinking the little things I would just put out there myself so the media couldn't make big bucks off the "hot tip". LOL
The weirdest part is, I am shy, and tend to have really low self-esteem, but inside of me deep down I know I'm a star, and I think that's what a person has to really have to be one. The outside can be "fixed" to create the image, but if you don't have the drive then it just isn't there. So really I think a lot of my stuff comes from being on the outside most of my life, I really do crave that attention, but for good things, not being bad or anything.
Anyway, great discussion!

Wow. I like your post. Thanks a lot for sharing. I am a shy person as well but when I'm around people, it doesn't show. LOL. People get surprised whenever I tell them that I really am a shy person.

Really? Your sister is in the showbiz? Well, that's great! But as you've said, you value your privacy so I'm not going to pry who your sister is; though I've already got a hunch who she is, if I'm right in assuming that you and your sister are resident citizens of the Philippines.
Anyway, if I'd be given an opportunity to have a stint in the movies, I'd do it only for additional earnings and I would certainly put limitations on acting onscreen. I'm a somewhat conservative person and I'm already married so there are a lot of things to take into consideration.
I would even prefer my husband to be an actor in the movies rather than myself. But I would be very upfront with him that he has to know his limitations, i.e. flirting with other personalities in showbusiness. And also, if offers will be continuous for him and would come one after the other so as to last more than a year, I would suggest and ask him to quit showbusiness after a couple of years. I believe that our family, our daughter in particular, comes first before any material and worldly fame and recognition. And other stars who will be loved by the masses, are sure to come after him, anyway.

heheh... yeah. I am from here. Anyway, family first. That has always been my motto. This would include my future family as well. I opted to pass the opportunity because I couldn't imagine myself there. Waaah... Its bad enough that people ask me stuff like if I'm related to her and other questions... what more if I become the real deal....

Yes, of course! I've always wanted to become one of Hollywood's A-list celebrities! I don't really mind the paparazzi following me around. I think after a year of being successful, I'll be tired of the extravagant lifestyle and opt to become a normal person again. But I'd love to experience their lifestyle. I can't imagine going to a restaurant and having everyone give their best service.

On one hand, I think being famous would be kind of fun. You'd have money to do what you want to, you don't have the typical 9-5 mundane job, between projects - you can go travel the world, etc.
On the other hand, I think I would become easily annoyed with the lack of a personal life you would be able to have. You couldn't even go to the grocery store or the post office without photographers in your face or people stopping you..Then you'd pick up the next celebrity magazine to see a picture of yourself with some article about how frumpy you looked during that grocery store visit and the list of items that you bought...No way.
I enjoy being able to blend into a crowd and to have my own privacy. I think that the cons definately outweigh the good stuff. I think I'll stick to being just a face in the crowd...

At first I would really like to just to become famous. But then, there are quite a lot to sacrifice for the big pay and being famous. A big part of your private life will definitely be affected. Famous people sometimes just smile it away and just waves to the crowd, it's a part of their job. But I can feel that deep inside they really wanted to be alone that day. Buying food as well as everybody else, but they get fans here and there, picture and autographs everywhere.
I know it ain't easy to be famous and almost everyone know you in an entire office. How much more an entire city or a country. But at least I want to be just to feel how they are going through with it. I could really get into it. Hey, I'm already starting to imagine who you look like. I mean, your sister's famous, so I'd probably know her. Take care.

Actually I am not fussed being known or not, the worst thing to happen is to be well known, and very wealthy, that to me is a worry. I have never bought a lottery ticket for example as It would be bad to win it, I know many would dream of it. I did something once that took a year to do, and i spent all my life savings on it, and I got known for it. It was a joy to get poor day by day but doing something I believed in. So if fame came, thats fine with me, as long I can still be a working class bloke at the end of it is better for me. When huge wealth comes your way, who do you really trust, and look at the responsibilities with it? I like being poor where and friends I make, it will be a genuine friend as I can only give you my time, and those who appreciate it are true friends. :-)
Here is what I did, blowing 50 thousand :-)
