Guilty Feeling Keeping A Hamster

A couple years ago, i have 13 hamsters that i love so much ... it's been several years livin with them and made me fall in love with them, but one years ago a disaster happen, i got flood disaster and drwaning my house for about one metres tall .. and i must take my hamster to the 2nd floor, it's quite hot on 2nd floor, after the flood is dry, i cleaning the house for about 7 days, after that i got sick, illness that makes me cannot get off from my bed for one month, i got typhus, in the first week i sick, i forgot to take my hamster down to the 1st floor, because i got a heavy headache that makes me cannot sleep for 3 days, the air in 2nd floor is hot in that time, so they died because of it T_T only 3 hamster still survive at that time, two of them got stress because fighting each other and then died, only one hamster still with me for 3 years, later he dies too because sick of his age, an old hamster already ....
Until now, i still like to see hamster from a petstore, and i not brave enough to keep them as my pet again, because i felt guilty i cannot take care them so well T_T

Losing hamsters is just like losing a family member, I know the pain when they have to go. I always get so attached to them, then cry when they have to go..
You shouldn't feel so guilty anyway, you didn't hope for the flood too.

hey first of all it's not your fault. there's a flood, be guilty if you left them on the 1st floor and let them just drown. second you got a serious illness. i bet your pets knew that you really love them. buy a new one. but this time make sure you plan it very well. since you are visited by flood. i would suggest that you have a customized cage that is actually high enough and will not be reached by the flood water just in case it happened again. at least you won't need to move them. one really stressful time for a pet is when you move them from a different location. it's so stressful that some really die. that will make you a responsible pet owner. so go ahead. do what you want and buy those hamsters. :)
