Okay, my mother is planning on visiting the Philippines this summer and I'd like to know how safe it is over there. I haven't been over there since I was 9 years old when we went to visit my aunts and uncles. I'd watch the news every now and then but don't get very much out of it. Last thing I've heard was the hurricane that did some damage and injured quite a few people. My mother will be travelling alone and I don't want to have to worry about her so if anyone knows what its like and can fill me that would be great. Thanks in advance.

I really think its safe to travel in here except if you're living maybe in the far south. There are a few bombing incidents down there. But here in Luzon its been generally peaceful in here although with the weather getting more rain and some typhoon in the north too. Hope your mom would enjoy her stay in here. I just remembered my Uncle and his family just came in here for a 3 week vacation. They have their time in here. They were happy and is now back there in US.

Hey there! Aside from the typhoons and rains, it's safe here in the Philippines. Of course there will still be risks as with any other country but all in all the scenery is very nice. I suggest that your mom visit some of the provinces as they have lots and lots of attractions and festivals. I'm just quite not sure what province exactly but all year round, the ambiance is still festive.
The capital is just as busy as usual. But there are more commercial sites to go to and huge malls are scattered all over the place. Transportation is abundant. It reflect on the traffic most of the time but there are quite a lot of alternatives. Weather is still ok. As I've mentioned, just the rains and some typhoons. One is active as we speak however it's on the northernmost part of the country.
You mom will have a great time here. Your aunts and uncles should take her around. take care!
