i was an avid believer till i thought of this one question

k. so i was thinking of the concept of hell when i realized that there have been people who have experienced it on earth. imagine someone who lost their entire family in a car accident. how would "hell" affect them? for the concept of hell to be valid it has to be more than physical pain. the mind can adapt to physical pain. my question is what happens to a person who has already experienced the ultimate mental pain, how could having your skin burnt for eternity top that?
