It looks like the office has been a hit in both the US and the UK but has anyone in the UK seen the US version? how does it compare to the awesome version with Gervais that we had over here? Guys in the US what do you think of the show and have any of you seen the original version and what did you think?

I actually watched the UK version before the US version and I absolutely loved the UK version more than the US. The humour in the british version was so much more subtle and therefore even more funny, I thought. The awkward moments were more awkward, the boss character (Ricky Gervais) even more pathetic, the office relationship (tim/dawn) even more sweeter. It took me a long time to get into the US version, I thought that it was too loud and obnoxious and totally over the top and the first season was a complete rip off of the UK version. But gradually I began to enjoy it for what it was and now I look forward to it every week. The one thing I like more about the US version is that it's had the ability to develop the peripheral characters more - like Angela, Creed, Stan etc because they are just as funny as the main characters. But I still much prefer the UK version to the US one.

I was and still am a big fan of the original The Office. I have Seasons 1, 2 and the Christmas Special and every now and then, I put it any disc and just start laughing. When I first heard they were going to make a US version, I was confident that they were going to ruin the show's legacy. But I was wrong. I try not to miss new episodes of the NBC show and am looking forward to the new season. Ricky Gervais is incomparable though. As much as I enjoy the Jim/Pam and Angela/Dwight/Andy relationships, I still get giddy every time (SPOILER ALERT) Dawn and Tim kiss and end up together at the end and I've seen that episode numerous times.
