What do you use facebook for?

I joined Facebook, as everyone kept naging at me to join, so I had some friends I already knew on there, to start. I then started searching for other people I knew and building up my friends list. It was great to keep in touch, and I find it easier and of course cheaper than phoning, and less hassle than email. I love the status and being able to leave meesage to everyone.
I have also sadly to say got addicted over time to some of the applications too, including Wrester, Parking Wars, Packrat, Bingo, Pool and Pet Pupz.. lol
These are great though for making more new friends and building up a network.
The groups are useful and I have set up quite a few, and this has also connected me up with people I haven't seen in years.
I suppose I have a seriously cluttered profile on there, and love it! I find that what started out as what I thought would be a 'myspace' style of 'friends reunited' has turned into a complete entertainment platform, that I would be hard pressed to live without now.
Was wondering how everyone else uses it, and who else hads ended up seriously addicted like myself?

I joined up to Facebook when I left my corporate-wage-slave position last Summer to go it alone (scary!) ... OK, so there are problems with data-mining etc, but for anyone that actively uses the internet nowadays you are always going to have security issues!
I love Facebook - even my mum has joined in the fun. It is a great way to keep in touch with what is going on in the "old place" and keep up with gossip, plus a pretty cool way to develop new business contacts.
It's also much more fun than MySpace (and you don't get so many sleaze-requests), and I'm addicted to many of the apps too! My other half is a bit of a stick-in-the-mud (prefers sending smoke signals) but I set him up on Facebook a few weeks ago and now he is hooked, checking in every morning to see whether he's got any new friend requests. He finds it much easier to use than Friends Reunited :)

Hi
You are right about the security issues, as they are always going to be there but I think Facebook is fairly secure, as in I have had no problems so far. It's great to hear about your Mum on there too. I was able to talk my sister into joining and now am suprised to also find my Aunt and Uncle and even my Dad Cousin who has to be in her late 50's-60's now on there. I would never keep in touch now without it, as we all haave seperate lives and are busy.
I laughed when you wrote about your other half as thats what I was like when I first joined. First thing in morning I was up checking for friends requests. :)
Thanks for sharing

A great friend of mine from boarding school told me about facebook.
It's great to keep in touch with her, as she lives in a different country then me.
As I've been on there, I've gotten back in touch with many friends from boarding school and summer camp, along with some family...
It's been fun...

I got on Facebook because that was where the majority of my husbands family was on. I soon got addicted. I found friends on there that weren't on myspace, so now I use both facebook and myspace.

:) I was never too sure about uploading photos, but once I started it was like eating Pringles, as I just can't stop. Shame I have a horrible habit of putting on old photos of family and friends which tend to embaress them.
Saying that though, they have bought up some great discussions, and ribbing too which have been fun, and I am just awaiting the day they all decide to get revenge on me. Lol
