Tattoos and judging people by the way they look....

Ok, so my mother-in-law was here to visit a week ago, and she made me very upset! Not that it is hard to do when it comes to her, we just don't see eye to eye on anything, and she is outright rude...so therefore, we don't get along at all. But, this time, we were out to dinner on my birthday, and there was a gentleman that had a bunch of tattoos. I have one myself, and am going to be getting another one. I have nothing against tattoos or the people who wear them. So while we are sitting there, she proceeds to talk about how she doesn't understand how people can do that, and how terrible it looks, and so on. My blood was boiling. For one, because that is just rude, but also, because my children were sitting there, and we do not want them learning that it is ok to judge people like that. Had we not been in a restaurant, I probably would have come unglued. But I managed to control my anger, and attempted to explain that to some people, tattoos are kind of like what jewelry are to other people. She never did get it, and continued to be nasty. UGH! And when I told her that I had a tattoo, and was going to get another, she huffed and puffed and made nasty faces! LMBO! Of course...I admit I said it in such a way that she knew I was rubbing it in her face...LOL. Well, I just had to rant about this somewhere, because it made me mad that she had to behave that way. Does anybody else get offended when someone starts judging people by their exterior?

As a tattooed individual myself, I find this a very reprehensible way to act, especially in front of children who could grow up acting the same way. We choose how we want to look and if that means getting inked, then so be it. I'm sure she wouldn't like it if someone commented on her wrinkles and how "bad" they looked, now would she? :]
