I am spending a lot of time reading discussions. So the writing is less comparing to reading. So I have a suggestion that the time spend in mylot should be considered as a factor in deciding the points. I hope that many mylotters may be agreeing with my point of view. Express your opinion whether it may positive or negative.

The post count only shows how many responses we make but it does not relate to how much money we earn. We can never understand the secret method myLot uses to decide our earnings.
Some days I get paid more for writing fewer responses. One weekend I spent a lot of time reading posts, rating, commenting on responses to my discussions and I wrote very few responses. The responses I wrote were quite long. I earned more over that weekend that I usually do on days when I am just adding responses.
I have made more than $1 in one day when I really had not written many responses.
What we get paid for is participation at myLot and that means we are rewarded for more than just writing posts.

I don't know about that but I think I earn more when I preview my posts, because doing that gives another banner impression on the preview page.

I honestly don't mind that we don't get compensated for reading; I only ever read discussions that I honestly am interested in, so I don't feel like my time is "wasted" by reading. It gives my fingers a brief break anyway. Besides, how would myLot be able to tell if you were reading a discussion, or if you just had the page set there?

When I first joined MyLot I spent hours and hours reading the discussions and I thought too, like you, that it is a great shame that we get nothing for reading. Now I seem to spend a little less reading, just choosing those users or discussions that are to me more intersting. But I know I'm missing out on a lot.
But I feel there is no way we could be compensated for reading except for learning new things and meeting more interesting people.

I just signed up and honestly the side money was what initially attracted me but I've yet to figure out how pay is calculated?
Does anyone actually get a decent extra income from here?
But I'll admit, I'm finding it an interesting place with a lot of interesting discussions so that's definitely a plus.
I don't mind not getting paid for the total amount spent on the site or reading time or whatever though.
