Have you ever sold anything on Craigslist?

Today for the first time I finally listed two window air conditioners we have had sitting in the garage for eons for sale on craigslist. It has been less than 6 hours and I am pretty confident they are sold. (Just waiting for the person to pick them up!) Have you ever sold anything on Craigslist before? Did you find it this easy? Or am I just lucky since I'm selling them cheap (two for $75) and it is the middle of July? If you've ever sold anything on Craigslist before, feel free to share with me your story - I may be selling even more stuff now that I know it's this easy!

I've sold brand new laminate flooring in the package, paint, a couch and numerous smaller things this year. I've been hesitant before, but after seeing two neighbors go trash picking one night and get $100 for items that were thrown in the trash (and subsequently cleaned by them), I was hooked! I'm also starting to eBay again, although that works for more of my specialized stuff (collectibles and antiques). It's harder, but I'm more selective about what I'm listing, as well as writing better descriptions. I started to get into this (selling on craigslist) because some of the items I had to get rid of (lawn items) were impossible to ship affordably (and I'm in the process of moving). Unfortunately, many people just don't bother to show up and I'm out of time to wait now. Enjoy selling on craigslist--when it works, it's a bunch of fun!

I hope so (for your sake)--just people need to be more polite when responding (and show up when they say they will!).

It's been a few days since I posted the discussion - the first lady never did call/show after she said she would take them... But I did manage to give them to a second person, who was awfully strange, lol. (Actually they are probably "normal" and we are strange) but she wanted to try to get it at a discount and I was like are you crazy? This is a $110 air conditioner brand new! It's only been used for a total of probably 6 months since where we live is only hot about 2-3 months of the year. What really made me laugh is I could tell they had more money than we do, lol. I will try selling more stuff on there though, if you have the time to deal with ppl it definitely worked out for me.

I sure have not. Good luck, and I hope the strangers who come to your home are not too strange. I've heard some real horror stories. It is a nice concept, though, in theory.

That last sentences should be framed in letters 3 feet high and posted over every doorway. You are sooooo right!

Don't worry Dr Ann, I research everybody, lol. There's more than anything you ever wanted to know about everybody online if they are a real person!

I haven't but my boyfriend always sells something there and I notice the respond is not bad. He almost sold everything he doesn't need there and I see that people would be calling within a week and stuff. I think that's a good site.

Never sold anything on there but I've found stuff to buy. Glad you had a good experience listing. I know that people have negative things to say about Craigslist but I find it to be a wealth of information and in this free market society why not use the best method to sell or buy something. I usually check the free stuff to see what's out there.

These sorts of things are rather iffy to me. I've read/seen things on the telly and internet about bad things happening through this site.

I think it's all about being careful and knowing who you are dealing with.

I'm a bit of a craigslist junkie, but I'm usually a buyer. I sold a box spring once that wouldn't fit in my apartment, but I made sure to alert my neighbor to keep an eye out for me (two men coming alone at night to pick something up? doesn't sit right). Whenever I buy anything, I like to bring someone with me for the pickup. Preferable someone trained in kung fu!

It is never a bad idea to try and be safe! You never know if people are who they really say they are.

I've sold quite a few things on craigslist, and I absolutely love it.. I usually get 5 responses within 5 minutes of posting my item. There's always a demand, which is weird. I've found that furniture and stuff sell quicker than electronics.

That's way less than we'd have to pay here for only one air conditioner. Here the cheapest we would have to pay is about 150.00 each and I think you'd be hard pressed to get it for that much. I have never heard of Craigslist.

I have sold a giftcard on craigslist. My husband has sold all kind of household things on craiglist. probably over 1,000 dollars worth. It is easier than ebay because mostly local people respond to it. It's really pretty easy to use. I like it alot.

It did seem a lot easier than ebay! I didn't even need a username or password!

I have tried to sell some hair extensions on craigslist for like 2 months! only acouple of people responded and I still haven't sold it. Though I guess something like hair pieces would be hard to sell. Well. . . I don't have much luck in gerneral. haha. Congrates on selling your window air conditioners! Though I have had success on craigslist for other things. I've found two jobs and a boyfriend!

I've never sold on Craigslist...I'm more of an Ebay type of gal :) Congrats on selling your air conditioners so quickly! I sold an old laptop on Ebay today for $250 even though the DVD-ROM drive doesn't work and the touchpad is kind of flaky (working only on and off). Good day for us it seems :)
