I have done disk clean up and that hasn't helped, shut down and restarted but it is still very slow. I am trying to respond to discussions but have only managed two in about half an hour. I have been to other sites they are slow but not as slow as myLot so could this be a myLot problem? I am a computer novice so don't really know what to do so any advice would be appreciated. Thanking you in advance, will get back to you but obvioously as slow may be some delay. Ellie :D

It could be the actual site rather than the computer that is running slow or it could be down to any installs that you have. Sometimes if you install a lot of programmes that can slow it down.
It could also be down to your internet supplier, we are with tiscali and sometimes they are hell and everything runs so slow and I think that it is the computer but it always turns out to be them.

No try clearing up any non nessacary programs and defragment your computer it is an option were it puts all your program together not spread out also put all unused short cuts in your trash and if you have alot of start up programs make them non start up so that when your computer turns on all these programs arent starting.

Start - Run - msconfig - startup tab. Also, go into the task manager and see how many processes there are running. There shouldn't be more than about 30. I try to keep my computer running a max of 21 (With Task manager open), but it does run about 25. Don't end processes title "svchost"

Hi Tamara, I done disk clean up and then shut down and restarted that didn't work but then I had updates that needed installing so I updated and shut down and restarted again and now it does seem to be working fine but some other users are experiencing myLot itself being slow. Hope yours speeds up soon. Huggles. Ellie :D

Have you tried to delete cookies? That also helps. Do you have a spyware cleaner? Spies like to tap into your computer and that will make your computer go very slow also. Have you tried the disc defragment? That will also speed your computer up. Sometimes Mylot loads slow for me too but my other sites will load just fine. It could just be the Mylot site only that is loading slowly.

Hmmm, do you have a good antivirus software program? I would run that so it will check every single file. Also, have you deleted your cookies? Those cookies add up quickly and can really bog down the system. Those two things would be my best guesses.
If your computer is more than 2 years old, maybe it's just got too much data and junk on it. Okay, there, I am now out of ideas. Hope you get to the bottom of this.

Hi PearlGrace, I have deleted a lot of files and cleared cache and defragmented and now it does seem back up to speed but years computer is over two years old so probably needs more space somehow. Thanks for your help and advice appreciated. Ellie :D

Sometimes your processor can be running slow, it may be trying to update some software. Control + Alt + Delete will show you what processes are running. If you're not using a process go ahead and close it out, the less memory that you're using the better. I've been there before, computers do their own thing sometimes. If you see NETWORK SERVICE a lot just know your ISP is taking a few memory chips from you.

Do you have anti-spyware and anti-virus software that can check for and remove spyware and viruses from your computer. There could be any number of reasons your computer has slowed, but spyware and other malicious software that you pick up from the internet can slow it down and you usually never know it's there until you check for it.

Hi yes I have but it automatically checks all this for me. I have just recently installed some updates and have now shut down again and it does seem to have sped up again not top speed as normal but it took me to this fairly quickly whereas earlier it was taking forever to even respond to a post. Thank you for your help, it is appreciated. Ellie :D

You can use system mechanic software. It contains lot of options to improve system performance as well as its speed. Initially my computer also run slowly. When I tried this software, my computer's speed increased gradually.

Have you run a virus scan. I've had one that was running slow like that and it ended being a virus that was making it run so slow.
