I've kept your link on file

One of the fantastic things about myLot is that if we ask for help we are rapidly inundated with tips and hints and links to sites that may be able to help us. But what do we do with these things? Do we file them neatly in a database of link library or just leave them lying about in the responses and think "if I need it I can always come back and get it". Personally I am good at recipes, I cut and past those usually, but useless at the rest. Do you file away the advice and links that you receive from your discussions?

hi pikefish I am afraid I am very lazy and just leave these
links lying around my profile.I am too intent on mylotting and doing responses and discussions and every thing just goes
by the wayside.lol

If the links are useful I will add them to favorites so that I will have them when I need them to later check up on. I also will copy and paste the links and recipes into a text folder and then save it for later or print it off as needed.

If you seen my house you wouldn't think I was organized..lol I think the only thing is halfway organized is my favorites list and that is because it doesn't take much to add to favorites or to a text folder. Otherwise in everything else I am hopeless..

I have bee known to bookmark links that could be very useful p1ke my darling and that way I can always find them when I am looking for them. I have tried looking for links I had seen in a post and it is impossible for the most part! I hadn't really thought of cut and paste and keeping things that way - that must be cos I am not as organised as you are sweetheart! xxx

Very well Thank you. I even worked longer hours as we were so busy. Must be my adoring public. I'm so modest!! Lots of Germans and Austrians plus school trips. Also a young girl from Alabama with whom I had a long conversation about weird laws. Don't ever go to church there wearing a false mustache with the intention of making the congregation laugh!! It's not allowed.

Hi P1kef1sh, you are very right about those things. There are some that I bookmarks, some that I copy, just plain text, that I save in my documents and most I hope I remember. Mylot has this search anyway so this is one help. This is why I tag too on discussions that interest me. So that I could somehow find it later.

I usually save the recipes, I get on here. We have some great mylot chefs. I have made some delicious food thanks to my pals here.
There are times when I have gone back to discussions for the advice as well. I guess you could call me a mylot packrat!

If I ask a question here it's either daft or I need the answer for a reason, you know, like if I ask for help with a computer game, I need to use the answer immediately, so I don't need to store it anywhere.
I have stored links and things before though, but Mr.Panda clears the computer out on a regular basis, so there's no point me storing much as it won't be there for long.
I do think that if I really NEED to know an answer to something I'll keep hold of it, but usually I come back to it later.
Generally the 'real life' questions are answered by the mine of useless information that is my Mother and what I can't get answered from her, I then ask my sisters and occasionally my Dad or Mr.Panda, sometimes even Teenpanda.

I would book mark them and then go to them at a later time and take a look if they are any use to me
If they are not then I will delete them from the Book mark but if they are I will leave them there and then go back at a later time and take a good look at it to see if it is any help to me

Depending on the advice I either cut and paste it to a document or save the email notification I got detailing what was said in a special folder in my email.
If I had to try to find the discussion again that could take days...lol

Not usually. I rarely read the links, anyway, especially when the discussion is all about what's written in the link. If I receive a discussion of "hints" or "tips", or some manner of advice that I like, I just put the email itself into the special folder I created just for myLot advice/recipes/etc. I've liked a few discussions, thought "Oh, I'll come back to this for something else later." only to have it taken down moments later. If I do check a link, I may occasionally bookmark it to come back to, but only rarely. If I really like a recipe, I'll copy/paste it and edit it into "recipe format" (lol). MyLot isn't always the best about leaving up helpful discussions, so I just make sure to do it myself, if I bother about it at all.

If someone provides a link that is helpful to me, I usually bookmark it so I can find it again. As one who has fibromyalgia (and fibro fog because of that), I find that if I don't do that immediately I will remember later that I wanted to save something but not remember what it was. :-)

I keep them in a folder so that i can easilly remember and access them. Receiving
tips from other my lot members is for me a blessing. That's why i want to keep it in a safe place. We never knew when we will need it. That's one good thing about this site. You need help? there are many members who are willing to share their ideas. You only have to ask and it will be given.

I've a lot of things from here saved and copied for future referance. recipes are some things as well as some tips on pruning and growing a few things. This site has gotten me a lot of things I would have had to search the internet for and that makes it great for me.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have received alot of tips from other members of Mylot over the years too. I have kept a mental file of the things that stuck with me the most. I discarded some of the things I was tipped on though. I have also saved some of them to a file for safekeeping also.

Hi p1kef1sh,
I honestly just leave them there after checking the site and learning from it..
But, when about books and authors, I always take note about it since I have no good memory in recalling names especially authors that I don't bump yet! LOL!
This is a great reminder, I am thinking now to bookmark those important links for future purposes!

Hi P1kef1sh, Me being the practical person that I am I will go into the link and then add it to my favourites list in a folder that relates to the subject or in what I call a links folder. This way I don't have to rack my brains as to which discussion I had posted that this super link was in. Ellie :D

You are looking at the worlds worst link storer here.i look at them and think that I must keep them, and then it all goes slightly pear shaped and the next thing my butterfly mind has zoomed off onto another plane.Recipes are just not my forTE,i MAY look at them to find that I more than likely only have a half of the ingredients used,so then I tend to make it all up as iI go along, and the end is sometihng that usually tastes fine, but bears no resemblance to the pictured article.
