I got a letter today from the Attorney General. Basically it said that a year ago they turned my case over to an outside collection company trying to get my ex to pay child support. This trial period of the collection company trying to ge the money has ended and that they are taking back the case.
I never got a letter stating they were giving my case to an outside agency. If the outside agency couldn't get money out of him, what are their plans now? They ask me if I have any information to give them to help them find my ex. Really, if I had any information, don't they think I would have contacted him by now??
Is the Attorney General helping (or so they say) you try to get child support from a non paying parent? If so what has been your expierence, have they helped you or frustrated you?

Sixteen years I have been wating for the Attorney General of Texas to help me collect support. 16 years!!!!!!!! Is that rediculace or what? What could you NOT do to help a struggling single parent in that time? It makes no sense to me. I have updated them with every job or address he has had. One time they took him to court in that time and actually lowered it by 1/3 of what he owed so that it is no longer a fellony. This is a disgrace. Somthing has to be done. I have complained and inquired to everyone I can think of. To no avail. Perhaps if all of the parents that have NOT BEEN done justice by the attorney general child support division of their state were to come together to make it known how inadequate the help they offer is... Maybe then somthing would change. It is too late for my son to bennifit for his father giving a dern. But, It hurts my heart to see others going throught e same thing. 16 years is a very long time to trust and wait for help that is never going to come.

Once your son turns 18, I believe he can fight for the back child support himself. (I would have to research that again). I got a letter from the TX one stating they were getting help from the TN one. I haven't gotten a penny since. I think it is a huge waste of my time, why do they even bother if they aren't going to do anything. I can't get childsupport, but they refuse to let me terminate because the state says she needs a father to support her!!
