I have a one-and-a-half year old daughter who is very active. She sleeps 9-10 hours at night and 2-3 hours nap in the day. That makes is about 11 - 13 hours in a day. Looking for parents of kids about the same age, just to compare. So how many hours do they sleep in a period of 24 hours?

3-4 hours for your 2-year old is rather long. Mine takes only 2.5-3 hours. With that, sometimes, she still has trouble falling asleep early at night. Thanks for your response!

I sleep usually 4 to 5 hrs only due to several nocturnal activities. But on weekends, I usually sleep for 8-10 hrs. Sleep is a much needed human process because it is during sleep that cells are invigorated and where other biochemical processes occur. A person deprived of sleep is usually irritable and sluggish.

Thanks for your comment. My daughter seems to be sleeping about the same time as yours. I wonder if it's normal for my daughter who is not even two. She wasn't even 1 year old when she cuts down her nap to just one in the morning. My mom says that's pretty unusual for infants her age. I'm just looking for other similar kids around.

I would like to add to my comment, children need more sleep than adults. My child sleeps usually 8-12 hours. It is during 2 hours of sleep that the growth hormone responsible for growth are secreted more. Let your child sleep as often as she can.

I know that sleep is great for development. Problem is my daughter doesn't want to sleep that much. She just wants to play!

i have a two years old son and he is active as well. sometimes he sleeps a lot and sometimes he sleeps a little. just make sure you cut down the sweets. sweets makes children hyper active so they stay awake more than they sleep. makes sure that if you give them vitamins you give it every morning so they will be active more in the morning than in the evening.

i saw at your profile that you are form singpore and i am from the philippines. i dont think that we have the same vitamins sold there and here, but i will still answer your question. the doctor prescribes this, its clusivol. it is said in the box that it is a comprehensive vitamins and minerals plus lysine. it has nutrients so the child will eat better and grow faster.
