what i usually do when i create or respond to a discussion is to actually type what i want to say spontaneously. whatever comes to my mind my fingers are already typing it. don't even bother checking the spelling because i know i did type it correctly. but what is funny is that sometimes when i type the things that i want to say. it turned out different. i didn't realize that i already skipped some articles and most of the spellings are incorrect. sometimes i do type words that are just homonyms of the word that i really intended to type. and the most funny thing is i only realize this when i already submitted the discussion. well i guess when you're really into the discussion you are actually thinking faster than you can type. lol. did this happen to you guys? have a good day.

I do not think faster than I type. I think at the same rate that I type because not only am I a touch typist, but I also type very fast. I also correct as I type, but that is because I am a writer and I have to make a good impression - get paid more and my novel will be recommended by Amazon.com and will appear in the major bookstores when it is finished if I watch what I write.

I do not earn that much. If I typed more than four or five lines, I would earn more, but somehow I must have read too many Readers Digests and Readers Digest Condensed books that I seem to condense everything. And all the advice I get as a writer is do not say in five words what you can say in two and I guess in myLot I should forget all that.

yes i usually type faster than i think. therefore i've developed a habit of checking back on what i've typed. most of the times i'll realise that i've skipped some words. sometimes i don't even understand what i was trying to say! that requires the addition of some words before the sentence makes sense. i've also switched on my auto spell check so that missing letters in words will not go unnoticed. that's the problem with thinking ahead. ;p

It is actually frustrating at times when this happens, because the thoughts are coming faster and faster and then my fingers start misbehaving and will not type what I am telling them too. I sometimes have to try to slow my thoughts down just so that it is all put down by my fingers like it is supposed to!

Well when my fingers misbehave I hold them up in front of me and I tell them off, my family think I am quite strange when I do this LOL

what should we do to a misbehaving fingers? is there a way to discipine them? i don't think spanking them will help though.lol. well let's just be thankful. at least, even if they are misbehaving sometimes, most of the times they follow us. it will be hard if they are misbehaving all the times. that's a problem. lol. thanks gemini. have a good day:)

I find i have 3 or 4 responses thought out before the pages ever load on dial up...so i have to go back and think again about the first one i started thinking about. THEN to slow my thoughts down i tend to say out loud what i want to type otherwise i get ahead of myself and forget where i was going with my train of thought.

I always see to it that my spelling is correct and I'm using correct usage of the word. And I'm thinking faster than I can type.

Yes, I think faster than what I think. But with God's grace my typing is speed is pretty good, so my thoughts go well along with my typing speed. But sometimes, I also commit silly mistakes, while typing out. I only realise those mistakes or get to know about those mistakes once I have submitted my reply.

lol,
yeah you're right! whatever comes to my mind at the moment, unless the topic is serious then I gotta hold my breath a bit, then think of it, then carefully choose my answer,
I wouldn't wanna harm any one with an answer that is not well thought or came out just like that..
any ways I spontaneously answered this discussion of yours!
good luck!

Yeah, it happens a lot with me as well. Typing what I think has become something like saying what I think. It's like reading a story while the letters slowly come into place automatically. ahahaha. I commit lots of mistakes and you're right, some of these mistakes do tend to appear as something we didn't intend to be.
I try to type as slow as I can though but I'm really not used to it anymore. The funny thing is, I've always been trying to think of spell checking my response but still, the "Post Response" button bellow seems to be automatic right after I type. Can't help it but I try to continue to be faster and more accurate. see 'ya!

My first thought is that you are a natural born writer. We don't have to think, our mind sends the words to our fingers. If I don't type fast enough, I do lose my chain of thought.
One time I prepared a discussion, but in the end, I decided I didn't like the wording. I back-spaced before I hit "edit" or "submit" and them submitted the version that explained my questions easily.
Horror of horrors! Both discussions got posted. I felt really and I mean really dumb.
I vote for computers that are voice activated.

actually you can type without thinking as well. it'll be a bunch of keystrokes that don't make sense. and as you said you can think faster than you can type. what must be done is you need to coordinate thinking and typing.

I certainly hope I think faster than I type! It has been a lot of years since I worked in an office and typed a lot, and I'm pretty slow. Add to that my old laptop with a stubborn keyboard that skips letters or sends them in litters. I spend as much time backing up to correct as I do typing onward, lol. But yes, even when I typed fast and accurately I couldn't keep up with my thoughts. I can't even talk as fast as I think...when I'm really into a subject it comes out sounding a lot like my postings read before correcting. Do you suppose we are afraid we'll lose the train of thought, or afraid that in todays' fast paced world we won't get a chance to express ourselves?

that's actually true. having the thoughts and wanting it to be typed as quickly as possible is of the essence sometimes because just a slight delay can lead to permanent blank. we don't want that do we? well i guess it's better to have typos after all.:) thanks amoeba1cell

it depends on the discussion itself. when the discussion is under my field of interest and not so serious but rather just an informal talk, i would write anything that came from my mind, pouring my heartfelt thoughts and being honest with myself. actually most of the topic or discussions here in yLot are in this kind. but sometimes we would encounter discussions or queries that is not formal and i have to mamke some research about the topic before responding to it. i want to respond because i want to help that particular person who asked that query or started that discussion.

I typically think faster then I type. Though sometimes I get to the end of the sentence and have to hit the delete key if I do happen to think slow then I type. I even try and do things like grammar and sentence structure correctly, which is unusual but I feel it necessary.
Usually if it is something like a blog or a non-chat response I toil over it and get a broad feeling for what I want to say. Sometimes I go into details, but that is when it is a difficult question.
