Oh no, not Grissom too!

William Peterson (Gil Grissom) on CSI Las Vegas will be leaving the show this season, it was just announced. He will leave after the 10th episode, which will probably take them to the Christmas break. How will they ever replace Grisson? Peterson will make some guest appearances and will still be an executive producer of the show, but his character will be leaving to "find himself" after a great deal of emotional turmoil. Darn it, he is the main reason I never miss an episode. I guess people have to move on on real life, but we so want to stay mired in familiar territory as viewers. I will surely miss him.

I quite lost track with CSI for 09. I knew about Grissom the last time, but after that, didn't know who replace him and all that. My local TV network hopefully will catch up soon on whom is Grissom's replacement. I hope you guys are still getting newer seasons of CSI Miami and Las Vegas..

I think I've heard about that actor too. He is quite cool but I think you are right. It's not Grissom and he has this trademark voice in CSI which I really like. I think he's retiring for good. Ah, so September than all the new programs will be released. It's a few months more, not quite that long way to go.

Right now the TV industry is on it's annual hiatus for the summer in the U.S. so all are reruns now, until September when the new season begins. Grissom (William Peterson) was replaced in January with Laurence Fishburn. He is a good actor, but still not Grissom.

now with this news i think i am going to cry . what is he thinking?! well i understnad that he needs to persue another carreer besides being a CSI agent but he can still can venture in other fields even he still is the CSI actor. but again that is just me ranting. i love william and i think we just need to support what even he does. but then again i feel still sad for i am not from the US i dont think that if ever he concentrates on being a stage actor i wont have a chance to see that

i read in one of the topic here at mylot about gil grissom/william petersen, that the actor of scream is the one who will take his place. i dont know if this is true or what but i would rather not see anybody taking his place. leave the role blank just like sarah.

Hi roni, I understand what you mean. I have been a huge fan of his for many years in his former movie roles. I don't know that he is going to focus on stage plays, although he does them on occascion. I would not get the chance to see those either. But he will still be involved in the CSI show as he remains an executive producer and will do some guest appearances. But the role of Grissom was just made for him in my opinion. I will miss him in that role very much. Don't know who they are going to replace him with yet, but it surely will be hard to do.

I dont think the show will stand when he leaves... that being said, I heard that it will be a BIG name that takes over, but I think the show will NOT be as good.

I hope they transition us into the replacement gradually instead of a sudden surprise after the 10th episode so we have a chance to get used to the new guy. I worry, too, that the show will suffer with Grissom gone. That role was made for him and I can't imagine who will be able to fill those shoes.

It will definitely be unusual without him, who will solve crimes with bugs now that he has gone? Will there be a new bug man? So many questions to answer. I love all the CSI's =D

That's for sure. Hopefully they will begin to introduce his replacement during the first 10 episodes, while he is still there and not spring the "surprise" on us suddenly. I hate that, give me a chance to get to know a character before you just drop him into the story and take my favorite one out.

It might be one of the existing people, they might get promoted and take his place.

I read this on the internet also...I can't believe it either. I guess we should know that shows won't last forever but it is such a good show. I heard they already have a few actors that they would like to take his place but who could possibly do that???? And, I heard that he will make periodic guest appearances so that will be good.

Yes, they need to wean us off of his character gradually. I, for one, am totally addicted to Grisson. lol

Oh No! I can hardly believe that. Why when ya like a show do these things always happen... Sigh... I sure hope that he finds himself quickly and gets back to the show! LOL.. I do think that he will be vey hard to replace! I wish him well in whatever he does. He is a very good actor I am sure that he will be around in some other area very soon.

Yes, I'm sure you're right. I have admired him for many years in his earlier movie roles. At least he will still be an executive producer on CSI so he will keep his hands in the mix.

Oh boy I wonder why he is leaving it. His name is so popular in that show. I also watch it and am impressed by the role he is playing in there. I do hop they can find a suitable replacement for his role. I think they have made the role vital already that removing that character would make the show rather incomplete.

Yes, it will be really hard to replace his character. He will remain one of the executive producers so maybe he will have some say it how/what is done. He wanted to leave last year, but they talked him into staying for another season, although he took some time off to do a stage play somewhere else then returned to the show. I think maybe he is just wanting to expand his options instead of burning out in the same role for several more years. Our loss.

Drat! Well, I guess we all knew it was coming after his "vacation" last year, I think I was just in denial. That will be 3 of the original cast gone once he leaves. I have a feeling the series probably won't last more than another season after this loss. But, ten seasons is a really good, long run for a TV show, so I guess we will have to move on.

Yes, you might be right. If they don't replace him with someone really really special (hard to imagine who) then it might be the swan song of the series. But at least he remains one of the executive producers so maybe he will have a strong intuition as to what to do about the storylines and actors. I wish he weren't leaving, but it was inevitible at some point. People have to move on with their lives I guess.

Well Sara left, so I guess Grissom will go to. I hope it is to go to San Francisco to be with her. They will have to write a reason for him to leave, and I hope it is something that we can smile about with tears in our eyes and as I am an incurable romantic I hope it is so that he and Sara will live happily ever after. I wonder about the replacement though. I hope they do not play the race card as happened on a couple of CBC shows, that is NCIS.

Hi, no I don't think it has anything to do with race. His character is supposed to be going through a soul-searching sort of period and needs to find something else to fulfil his life. I don't think he is going to be with Sara, but I could be wrong (hopefully.)

I don't think they will be able to replace William Petersons character. I think unfortunately the show will be winding down. That is what happens when you take the heart out of an original show.I hope we will see him in movies again.

He has been in movies for many years and I'm sure he will continue to be in more. I'v always liked him in movies. I sincerely hope you are wrong about the series, but it will be hard to replace him for sure. At least he remains one of the executive producers of this show so maybe he will have some input in the future.

That is not good news. He's one of the reasons I watch the show.I like the character he plays. Hopefully he changes his mind and comes back maybe? Life goes on.

We can always wish. But I don't think so since they talked him into staying last year when he wanted to go. He got some time off to work in a stage play, but then was back mid-season. This time I think it is a done deal. I really like him.

Good day... I remember the first time I watch CSI., and saw his character as grissom and caught my interest immediately. His a perfect fit to the show, the core of it all. He doesn't need to be on the show all the time but when you know that he'll talk or investigate later even for just a moment the show becomes lively and the plot even livelier. I guess Life does go on for all of us and also for Mr. Peterson. We'll have just to hope that the character replacement would fill his shoes and the show.

I can't imagine who will be able to fill those shoes. You are right, he is the perfect fit for that character. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. At least they are not killing him off.

It was reported on AP as well as several other news sources. You can find it on the internet easily by searching CSI, William Peterson. They announced it on Inside Edition last night when it first got my attention. He is my favorite character and I will really miss him.

I saw this as well. I think the show will have a hard time without him. Personally I have become more of a Miami fan myself. Never really got into the New York one, always just seemed to dark and maybe it was just the day it was on that I never really had time for it.

I am just the opposite. I don't like the Miami show, probably because I can't stand Horatio, but the New York one is not bad. But I could live without all of them if they wouldn't mess with the Las Vegas team.
