What's for Breakfast?

I still had strawberries and blueberries left from my yummy shortcake several days ago, so I wanted to use them up this morning. I took advantage of the cooler temperatures this morning and made some muffins.
I ended up making a dozen strawberry muffins, then made another dozen with both strawberries and blueberries. Yum - are they good! My husband was happy to take several with his lunch today, after we each ate two of them for breakfast.
This isn't the best picture, and they tasted better than they look.
Do you make muffins from scratch? From a mix? Buy them at the bakery?

I haven't made muffins in so long, I forgot how easy they were to throw together. I'm going to have to do it more often, for sure.
Pea brain? I don't think so! (unless you're thinking of putting your peas in a muffin)

This morning for breakfast I had a bowl of Cheeseburger soup that was leftover from last night with a butter and egg roll. My kids both had butter and eggs rolls with butter on them and some bacon. My daughter also had some of my soup.
When I make my muffins they are from scratch about half the time. The rest of the time I use a mix.

This morning for me I am in a hurry. Coffee, raisins, and a bagel with cream cheese. Not the best, but better than skipping. Yours sounds better.

I LOVE bagels and cream cheese! Oh, there are definitely worse things you could have. Raisins aren't bad for you either.

Definitely try making some of your own. These didn't take but maybe 5 minutes to whip up.
I'm going to have to think of other variations to try too. Maybe dollops of cream cheese in the strawberry? Hmmm ....

I love mini wheats but I've never tried the strawberry. I may have to look for those the next trip to the grocery store.

Mmmm, sounds good. I do have a handful of blueberries left so I think I'll make pancakes with those for tomorrow. Even if we don't eat them, they will freeze well.

Oh those look yummy! That looks like my table in your picture! I have a round table with wood trim and green tiles! It has a drop leaf in the middle that you can pull the table out and the leaf pops up and you have an oval table. I think I might have home fries and eggs in the morning for breakfast. Not sure yet.

Yeah I like it and the not storing the leaf is a great thing. Our dining room table (which I hope to sell soon) has the trraditional leaf in it. I hate our dining room table it is a nice table don't get me wrong it just isn't my thing, a friend helped pick it out and it is more her thing than ours.

My table is rectangular, but it works the same way. I love not having to store the leaf separately, as it's always right there. I've never seen on that was round or oval, though. Neat!

I don't often buy muffins, but if I do I get them at the bakery. I can't make them myself. For breakfast, myself, I had pasta leftover from dinner two days ago. I love eating dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner.

I have a disability and cooking myself is hard and dangerous. I could burn myself and cut myself or make a mess that my assistants would have to clean up.

Ah, I see. Well I am very thankful that I am able to.
My husband has a bad hip and knee and has to use a cane and a brace on his knee, but nothing totally disabling. There but for the grace of God, go I.

It doesn't matter to me either, which food is traditional for what meal. Food is food, and I like to eat!
Why can't you make muffins yourself? They're very simple to do.

PB&J, another favorite of mine! I hope to have strawberries next year and have the room to do some canning too. I love homemade jellies and jams.

I make mine from a mix when I make them. Or buy them. I could make from scratch, but choose the easy route since I have two young kids to look after. I tell you what, I have no idea how women in the old days did it with all those young uns.
As for us, we had cereal. Cookie Crisp. lol.

Something simple like muffins are just about as easy from scratch as they are from a mix. I've been doing a lot more in the (almost) year that my husband and I have been together, and both of our waistlines can attest to that!

MMMM i love muffins. We usually make them from scratch except for bran muffins those we make from a package. I love bran muffins, blueberry muffins and strawberry muffins. I eat bran muffins quite often for breakfast and take them to work for lunch. I've never boughten muffins in the store or a bakery to take home. I have eaten tim horton's muffins.

We have Tim Horton's here but I've never been (I only moved here a year ago). From what I've heard, it probably would not be a good idea if I did go, because I love those big specialty muffins.

My breakfast differs from day to day, like cereal, oat or ham, but my spouse prefers soymilk to milk. I prefer banana and pineapple muffins. I am going to make some muffins on this weekend.

Ooh, pineapple muffins sound good.
That reminds me of some little individual pineapple upsidedown cake type things that I made with biscuits a while back. I may have to resurrect that recipe.

Stir fry is always good, especially when you can get some of the things straight from your garden. I had sugar snap peas this year and mmm, they are so good.

I tend to buy them at clearance from Wal Mart. Also I will take a mix and then add some healthier ingredients, as well. I have a homemade muffin mix that I got the recipe for from a friend here, and it is good, you just reminded me. It is basic, with some cinnamon, etc. I add flax seed meal or oatmeal, fruit, etc. I really try to not do many muffins or baked goodies, cutting back on (not eliminating) carbs.

Go ahead and give it a try. They're really not any more difficult to do from scratch than it is from a mix.

Hi my friend
Those muffins sound soooo good-I'll be right over
I really hate to cook and I only bake when I get in the mood, whick isn't very often. lol I do love muffins and hubby will occasionally bring some blueberry muffins home for me from the store. He knows how much I like them. lol Make anything from scarach? Me? You've got to be kidding!! I have never made anything from scratch. If I'm going to bake something, it's got to be from a box and it has got to be easy!! The bakery we have at our local Super Walmart does a pretty good job of whipping up some tasty bakery items. I'm hooked on their Snickers chocolate cake. Yum!!
Have a great evening,
Char

I am not a chef or pastry chef by any means, but I can make simple things well enough. Muffins are just about as easy from scratch as they are from a mix, sweetie, you should try it.
Flour, sugar, baking soda, oil, egg, milk - mix it up and add in fruit or whatever and you're done. What's hard about that? Even with a mix you have to add egg, sometimes oil and water or milk.
