Last week when my daughter was visiting she asked me if I would like to have help arranging my craft room as it had gotten too overwhelming for me. I told her that I would love the help....so we pulled almost everything out of the room. We were just about to put the stuff back when I asked her if she felt like helping me put in a new floor....Well she was agreeable so we headed out to Home Depot and got some Armstrong tiles that look like wood. The old carpet was way past it's lifespan so we ripped it out and put down the tiles! I can't believe the change. It looks like a brand new room.....now I have to figure out what I want to do with the walls. Have you ever put in new flooring by yourself?

Yes, years ago we put in a new bathroom floor and also my husband and a friend put down carpet in the living area. The friend used to lay carpet for a living until he blew his knee out from the knee kick but he was there telling my husband how to do it. hahaha It is amazing how a new floor can really change the looks of a room.

Congrats on the floor. Usually when I clean out a room like that, the floor itself is like new! Because I haven't seen it in so long!
I have never laid a floor myself, but have done alot of home improvements myself. I have done walls, and window dressing. I even built my shed.

I bet that does wonders for the look of the room. And hey, if you ever decide to sell, it would have added value to the house. I've never put in a floor, but I was living with my parents when my dad decided to install laminate wood flooring in the house. It was so loud! All the pounding gave me a migraine. It took him and a friend two days to finish and it wasn't a moment too soon!

The floor looks great. Are you going to paint the walls? How about putting some of your art work on the walls? You do such interesting projects.
Yes I did put carpet tiles on a floor once in this house. It was great until they had to be removed. What a major mess. Hired someone to do it since it would have taken me forever to remove and my back couldn't take it.

Make the walls unique by throwing a sponge at it. Just be careful not to get it on the new flooring...lol We had a company remove our wallpaper and paint last year and it looks fantastic. I couldn't believe the difference. Your crafts are really very unique and interesting.

Your new floor looks very nice! We redid our kitchen and bathroom floors by laying down vinyl floors that look like wood. It came in strips that adhear to eachother instead of the subfloor, so the pieces don't "drift" apart like they did on our old bathroom floor. It is amazing how a new floor or paint color can really change a room.

Hello there, Mrs. Home Depot and Ms. This Old House!
That is great that you decided on a whim to put in new flooring and was successful. Fantastic! No, I've never put in new flooring. And I probably won't ever try. But Wow, that's so cool. Good for you. Now you sort of have a new room, like you said.
Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Jill, I have laid carpet throughout my house before and in the one I am in now laid carpet tiles in my sons room and the bathroom and have also laid he carpet in both the other bedrooms. I am in the process of ordering new carpet for the landing stairs and lounge and I am paying porfessionals to do that as that is one job I am not willing to tackle. I am really pleased that you have managed to do this yourself and that it has made such a dramatic change to your workroom, well done you. Ellie :D
