Internet 2: What is it? How will it affect worldwide PC users? Who are the top experts for resources on the subject. Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm not an expert. However I have picked up a few things about Internet 2. It will be fast. It will have a fibre-optic backbone with high download speeds. It will be heavily censored with access by thumbprint only. It is planned to replace the old Internet by 2012.
Unfortunately, whereas we have an Internet with billions of websites, Internet 2 will just have 200 or so corporate websites and be owned by a few universities and companies. Apparently TELUS' current wireless spackage will be the new model. It will be like a glorified cable package with a charge for sending and receiving each email.
