Hello mylotters.
Its nice to have something to talk about today and its something that happened last week. My roomate's brother mark paul who is 17 years old had a motorcycle accident last saturday. A call from her sister woke mein the middle of my sleep at around 3am and informed my roomate that their brother is in the hospital.
She immediately went to the hospital and found out that he was drunk and a girl was also injured.
I visited him there and I saw the broken clavicle, 6 stitches head injury and bruises and cuts all over. I was not able to recogize him immediately and he looked pitiful with all the bandages around his body.
He is till a first year college student and I know this is realy tough for the kid, its exam week and here he is all injured and cant even move his left hand because of the injury. It a lesson learned the hard way.
I just hope this will serve as a wake up call for him.

I agree... he learned his lessons the hard way... drunk driving... he could have been killed... or he could have killed someone else... just be glad he is alive... and is in the road to recovery... he can always ask for special exams... since he was involved in an accident... i just hope that he will never drive while under the influence ever again...

There seems to be a lot of accidents these days involving motor cycles well here in Melbourne anyway, I don't know if it is because there are so many more riders or because they are just being careless or maybe the drivers of cars are just caring any more, it is a worry...

oh dear, so sorry to hear about that. but he really should learn not to drink and drive. there are many countries with zero tolerance for that , and he could be charged with drink driving as an offence because he doesn't endanger just himself and his pillion rider, but also other people on the road like other drivers and other pedestrians.
my friend on a motorbike also had an accident. not his fault since this lady in a car beat a traffic light and slammed into his bike. so really, it's just not safe to drive a motorbike. even if you are driving very safely, someone else's mistake could cost your life. thank God my friend is alright and escaped with some scratches. his bike was beyond repair though.

Yes its a different case when you are comparing motorcycle and a car/ Motorcycles easily crash than the four wheeled cars.

When will they ever learned? Seems like these motorcycle riders would not stopped driving carefully and in full mind until they personally experienced accident. Just watching and reading the everyday news is enough reminder of how dangerous driving a motorcycle could be. Everyday whenever I'm going to work I could still see many riders without the protective helmet or even if they have they were not wearing them.
I'm sorry for my ranting but I think we should have a strict guidelines in giving and issuing licenses to motorcycle riders. We should educate them first particularly in safety and proper driving before permitting them to drive one.
Anyway I do hope that these accident would served as a lesson and reminder of the dangers of riding a motorbike to him.

Hopefully a wake up call for him and for many people. People still keep thinking that even thought they were drinking they're just in perfect condition to drive.
I was in a motor cycle accident once long ago, but thankfully I wasn't badly injured and I hadn't been drinking. It was just one of those things that happen.
Motor cycle accidents are scary. You don't have anything protecting you and you just find yourself flying towards the road really quick grrrrr

What the heck is a 17 year old drinking in the fist place. Do you have an age limit on drinking in your country? Here in the USA it is against the law to drink before the age of 21.
I hope your roommates brother and friend will be OK. Good luck on his exams.

He is lucky to be alive at all, he is lucky he did not kill himself and others. Why on earth get on a bike if intoxicated, I mean a car is bad enough, but a bike! I too hope that he realises what he has done and how lucky he is.

he is lucky to be alive. i do hope he has learned a hard lesson here. motorcycles are dangerous to begin with but to drive drunk...i just do not know why people insist on doing that. it never turns out well. drinking and driving do not mix period. i think a great law would be that if you are drinking in a public bar or restaurant and you have more than one drink they have to take your keys away from you. when people are at private parties others around the people drinking should insist on the same thing otherwise they don't get to drink.
