Do you think parental consent should be required for underage pregnant women to have abortion?

I do and for the reason that things can and do go wrong. I understand why a young girl would fear telling her parents. I've been there and dealt with a mother who called me names and told me what a terrible thing I had done to the guy. Seriously. If you raise your daughter to not fear coming to you with these issues you don't risk hiding from you.

It would be best if every parent were there to support their daughter, and help her live with any decision she makes. That would not be the case for many teens. Most teens who could depend on their parents, would voluntarily tell them. Sadly, many teens in that situation are in fear of being abused, some have been raped, and some are victims of incest. I do not think teens should be required to get parental consent. A parent should not be able to stop her from getting an abortion, if that is the decision she comes to. I think it would be great if all teens could get counseling, because they should be really well informed before making a life altering decision. The bottom line, though, is that each woman has a right to make this incredibly personal decision for herself.

I don't think it is ok for the parents to make that choice for their daughter. She is the one to have to live with the choice for the rest of her life. I do however think that the parents should be notified. I think it is very wrong that a young girl can go and get an abortion and her parents have no idea what she is going thru. I mean, I have to sign papers just for my daughter to have a tylenol in school and yet she can get an abortion without my knowledge? Also, who pays for these abortions? Are they provided "free" for these young girls? I know they can walk in and get birth control for free if they are students and not working.
