Are you your own Knight in Shining Armour?

There are those who hunger from another, a sense of protection, sheltering, shielding and being cared for. And...there are those who automatically depend on their ownselves for a true sense of security. Then...there are those who are somewhere between the two...perhaps moving away from the "Knight in Shining Armour" illusion and toward the "I am" reality.
Are you your own Knight in Shining Armour? In what way(s)are/aren't you? I am interested in reading MyLotters responses to this subject. It would be great to read from those who give the question some deeper-level thought and hopefully respond with at least one thought-provoking paragraph that will stimulate others to brainstorm the topic.
Thank you in advance to those who seriously participate.

Well, looks like the one percent crowd has the room to themselves! Why doesn't that surprise me?
I have not hungered for a sense of protection, sheltering, shielding or being cared for so much as I have wanted to be rescued from the life I felt trapped in. The thing is, I had created that life with my own thoughts and beliefs and so what it boiled down to was that I wanted someone to rescue me from myself! Preferably someone brave, handsome and true...
Then one day I realized that as an 'emotional cripple' I was only attracting emotionally crippled men who didn't stand a chance in hell of rescuing me! In fact I ended up being the one rescuing them!!! I realized that the type of man I was looking for was not going to be interested in a helpless 'damsel in distress', no matter her physical attributes, hehehe. The man I was looking for would be more interested in a woman who was a whole and complete and capable of rescuing herself. And that is the woman I have set out to become.
