Help! How do I make my swollen glands go down - they're painful!

July 17, 2008 2:02am CST
Hey, about a week ago I noticed that I had two swollen lumps on either side, just a bit below my armpits that were REALLY painful! I went to the doctor and he said that I had a virus and that they were swollen because they were "fighting it off". I'm going on holiday in 2 days and I really don't want to be in pain for that, so is there anything I can do to reduce the pain and/or swelling?

You could try a very high strength vitamin C and Zinc tablets. Have lots of healthy food like fruit and vegetables, salad and so on. Drink pure fruit juice like orange or grapefruit. Take a few gentle walks along pretty routes that are near to where you live. How are you getting to your holiday location? If it is on a plane I suggest using a pair of ear planes in your ears or if it is by boat I recommend wrist bands. If you take pain killers packing something like paracetamol might be a good idea. Take a packet of tissues with you on holiday too. I hope that your painful swollen glands go down and you have a wonderful holiday. Good luck.
