I really cannot live without my cellular phone... What was once a commodity has now become a necessity. Most people have one, even the simpler ones because they find it an important tool in communicating with other people. On my part, I need this especially for emergency purposes. When I was held up, I used my fiance's phone to call the police and my mobile carrier to have my line cut so that the thieves wouldn't be able to abuse my line. Plus I was able to call my credit card company to have my cards cut for the mean time.
There have been many instances where the cellular phone has helped save me through tough times. That's why I can't live without it.
For my fellow MyLotters, do you have a cellular phone? And if you do, is it a commodity or a necessity? Just wondering...

Cellphone certainly helps a lot especially when you have a business. It provides fast and easy communication. While I believe this could be a necessity, I don't really believe that I cannot live without it. I've been able to live most of my lifetime without it, so even at the present I can still live with or without it. I agree though that life is easier with these gadgets, especially when used in most effective and efficient way.

Very true... Business or if you have a job. I personally cannot be without it. Or else my bosses and people at work will be hounding me 24/7 to get one. Lol.

Well my mobile is so old it is steam driven. haha
I agree with you. It is fantastic 'insurance' to get you out of trouble when needed.
But most of the time it is switched off so it is not much use if people want to call.
My mains charger for the phone was eaten by my dog when she was a puppy (still love her!) so my only means of charging is with the car charger and I use that when I can.
The battery life of more modern phones is so much better so maybe I will have to shell out for a new one someday. I have a 'pay as you go' account so I have to buy my own phones.
To be honest, the real answer to your question is, yes, I can live without a mob.

Hi smacksman... Haha... I hope by this time you have a new mobile phone so that you can finally give your old phone its long-awaited retirement. Lol. At least you can still live without your phone. I wonder when I can do that??? Haha. Thanks for the reply.

Hello,Rose! In the eighties or even during the nineties people were managing without phones.how was that time?why not manage without a mobile phone.I am seeing the youngsters misusing the phone.they are using the phone more than a business man use it.i don't know what they are talking so much.they are spending so much time with phone which otherwise they could have spent on study.I am a retired officer,i am now seventy years old and i don't feel the necessity of a phone.however,i am using a mobile phone and i think it is no more a luxury, rather it has become the daily necessity.thanx.

Hi bbsr...
I know... there are a lot of younger people (sometimes a lot younger than me) who actually are text and phone addicts. I mean, I like texting but if I have spare time (which is rare). Most of my calls and texts are for business purposes. Aside from that, I don't usually do anything else... but I do make sure that it's turned on because my mom is living in another place so I need that for communication.

That's true... There are times when you get calls at the worst times... or when someone tries to call you and your battery is almost empty. That can be a real hassle.
