Good Swimmer...Life Saving Techniques....Lifegaurd?

well i have a friend whose Father runs an NGO on Life Saving Techniques in Pune there they train people in Lifegaurding and other rescue operations...so how many of mylotters are good swimmers and do you know the techniques of life saving? can you rescue a drowning person? do you always have lifegaurds in your pools and beaches? we hvae lifegaurds at our pool but not on our beaches...can you give mouth to mouth respiration? Do you respect the lifegaurds and follow their advice? i am a good swimmer and so is my husband we have been swimming since our childhood..but we have not learnt the life saving techniques how to rescue...we dont want to do the professonal course of a life gaurd but a preliminary so that we can be of some help in times of need..what do you think is it a good idea to learn the correct techniques?
