Does sunglasses protect your eyes ?

Recently, I suffered an infection on my left eye and the Doctor advised me to use sunglasses while I am out in the street . Accordingly, I bought one (certainly not Ray-Ban)from the store and began using it when traveling to my office . I am still using it . Now my question is whether sunglasses can really protect our eyes from getting infected from dust,fumes,u/v rays ? Please response .

Hey,sodraja.I don't use sunglasses and I also don't like it but it really can protect our eyes.I don't know much about sunglasses so I don't know which kind of glasses can really stop from u/v rays.
