Do you keep up with the news on television?

To me, Fox News is the best channel on the television. We have our television usually on the DirecTV channel of Fox News all the time. We even record on TIVO some of the news programs to watch them when we get home. I like to keep up with the daily news and also keep up with things that have happened and haven't been resolved. It has also been handy to keep up with the Presidential candidates in their bout for the highest office in the land. We also tune into our local channels for the news happening around our state and for the local news. Where do you get most of your news?

I have 2 sources for getting the news. One is through internet (cnn.com globally and inquirer.net locally) and the other one are local news programs. We have 2 top channels and I watch them every night and before midnight. They are good sources though but the commercials are really long and it's annoying. On cable, I do watch cnn and yes, we have Fox News as well. But not more so than often. For in demand news, I always go online first. But the TV news is more entertaining and the style in delivering the news is more interesting.

I also read lots of news on the Internet. But it is always so enjoyable watching the same news on the television and getting the reactions from the news hosts. I love the interchange between the different ones, getting all their opinions. It's fun to see them go into combat when they disagree. This you can't get from reading the news. We do lots of recording on Tivo just to be able to avoid all those commercials. Seems like the programs are more commercials and less information. Our one pet peeve is the way they keep you waiting, saying something about a piece of information they are going to tell you 'next', and sometimes next never gets here, or they repeat it several times during the hour before they finally show you the short piece. It gets annoying.

exactly! very good point there Barb. Don't you hate it when they try to encite you in waiting for a news and after those numerous and long commercials and a couple of news in between, it doesn't seem that interesting while they're at it. It's also nice to see third party interaction such as live interviews or patches to different people about a certain news. Real good stuff compared to going on the net.

My husband really gets annoyed sometimes, especially when it is something he is very interested in. And time after time, they won't even talk about it later on the show. I think I'll start complaining when this happens! Maybe it would stop some of this. I think sometimes they are just 'stuffing' the programming! They will talk about what they are going to show, have a long commercial, and then come back with something totally different and it's frustrating when you could have been doing something else or watching another station.

I can't stand television news. They focus on the dumbest issues in the campaign. They want drama more then they want to inform. Plus each station has there bias. FOX news for example is so right wing its gross. And the opposite is true for MSNBC and its left wing idiots. I watched this documentary called Outfoxed. One of the scariest things I've ever seen in my life. It was about how FOX news uses all of these techniques and right wing propaganda. Watch it. I'll will change your outlook on television news in general.

I don't believe that Fox News dabbles in propaganda. I haven't seen Outfoxed, and I'd love to know who wrote the documentary. Lots of times that can tell you lots about what is going on. I just read up on the documentary. I think some of their accusations are unfounded. There are lots of liberal democrats on Fox News. And there might be a reason that there are more conservatives on the programs than there are liberals. I've heard lots of the hosts say so and so was asked to appear but they declined, and it's always a liberal democrat. Lots of people don't like conservatives and will do anything to downgrade a conservative broadcast. They are trying to shut up all the conservative radio broadcasters as well. And, when they do, we are all in a heap of trouble. Liberals don't get the listeners that conservatives do, so their programs don't last as long on radio.

I use to watch Fox News a lot, but here lately I'm lucky to get to watch our local news. I even cancelled our news paper for the time being. Taking care of a sick parent takes a lot of time.

I agree with you. I watch the Fox News channel every morning when I get up just to see whats going on in the world. To me its the best news channel. I get all my information through there. Sometimes I just leave it on all day.

We sometimes do the very same thing, especially on the weekend. But it is the first channel we go to in the mornings when we turn it on. I've missed lots of coverage because of the grandsons being here lots this summer. I really wanted to keep up with Tony Snow and his burial today, but the boys have hogged my TV.

I definitely watch Fox News and I think it's the most unbiased. I love their coverage of the presidential campaign. I also love how they cut across "sensitivities" and call a spade a spade. I disagree that it's a rightist news organization because Fox News is composed of different people. There's Geraldo Rivera and Greta and Colms whom I can hardly call right-wingers. Besides, I am sick of CNN calling Israel "occupiers" much as I am very sick (yuck) of Al Jazeera wgich makes it sound like everything western is "of the Great Satan". The only real news is Fox News!

I'm a total new and political junkie so while I'm surfing the net and posting here I usually have my TV on MSNBC. No offense, but I can't take too much of Fox except for Greta VanSustren. They're way too right-wing for me. Sean Hannity has a vendetta against all the Democrats but they never report a negative word about the Republicans, even Bush for all the damage he's done. I know there have been Democrats that have refused to appear on Fox shows but I can't say that I blame them since it would be like riding into an ambush. On MSNBC and CNN, which I watch now and then, they have people from both sides discussing the various issues. Sure, they have a couple more liberal hosts but they have some conservatives as well like Joe Scarborough who was a Republican Congressman a few years back. Pat Buchanon is on MSNBC and you can't get any more conservative than him. It's fine that there are places to get the news from a different angle, though. The reason there aren't as many liberal radio hosts is because all the radio stations are owned by mega-corporations so they won't put anything other than right-wingers on. Annie

I don’t keep up with the news as much. I barely have time to sit down and watch a commercial without interruptions, let alone news. I guess I only want to be able to concentrate on what I am doing. Since watching the news required me to listen and I be too upset if I could not hear an important part of something. So I ignore it all together. Also I figure if any news is headline news, I would hear about it later on the radio. I listen to the radio during my commute to and from work. If I hear too much bad stuff, it really bugs me and turns me into a worry freak.

Yes. The TV is on when it's news time... I'm watching 24 oras on GMA 7. It's a well balance news program, as they say it... "walang kinikilingan, walang pinoproteksyunan.. serbisyong totoo lamng"... That's GMA. I'm not paid for this. No advertizers contacted me to promote the show.

Oy yes. I do keep up with the tv news especially during the prime time. By watching news I keep myself informed with what is going at local and international arena. I can also cope with the latest news from online news channel while I am discussing in MyLot.

i read news mainly from newspaper, esp when sitting on a bus, reading newspapers is always fun even peeping newspapers in other's hand when you don't get one. second source is from internetTV, it's rather flexible, you can choose channels, dates, topics, and repeat time and time again . it does good to my listening for i need to keep my ears sharp and sensitive to English. what's more, from foreigh TV or radio, i can hear different point of views like BBC,VOA, in a word ,i can hear some real facts which are forbidden to broadcast in my local station. that's cool and influencing me towards the good way.
