You are aware that there are lot of differences between a cell phone and a traditional landline phone. Of course, there are merits and demerits in both types. Traditional phones are still being used by lot of people, while number of users of cell phone is increasing day by day! What in your opinion is the big advantage with traditional phone and cell phone as also disadvantage or demerit?

Traditional phone lines are supposed to be much clearer and I think in most markets they are actually cheaper to use. As such, many radio stations prefer that you give them a land line to call when they are interviewing people over the phone and I think you know with a fixed line that people are unlikely to be in places that are noisy. The cost of using a fixed line is also cheaper. So, if you are on your cell phone, get the other guy to call you back if they have a traditional land line - it would be cheaper for all parties.
However, cell phones are convenient and while it may be cheaper to use a land line, its easier and cheaper to get a cell phone. And the best part of a cell phone, you can use it just about anywhere, so you will never be out of touch with the rest of the world (which may not be a good thing).
Incidentally, the cell phone has helped many people in the developing world because millions have suddenly been able to communicate via the phone instead of having to wait for expensive landlines cables to be laid. Technology leapfrogging helps the poor.
