Fortune Cookie

Tonight I took my children to eat Chinese. We got our fortune cookies and this is what my fortune said, "Tomorrow will be lucky and memorable for you." So, my question for you is, does anyone believe that fortune cookies have meaning? Do you believe that those sort of things can happen? Or have you had a fortune like that ever happen?

Not sure i'm a great believer but i think if people believe in something strongly enough they can make it happen for themselves, either that or twist what actually happens to make it fit with the prediction. I guess that's why horoscopes etc are usually quite vague so that they can be made to apply to most people. Having said that there have been a couple of times in my life where i have said things out of the blue and they have come true. For example a few years ago my father bought a new car and as soon as i got in it i said "your wing mirror is gonna get knocked off", he laughed at me, but sure enough a couple of days later when he was driving down a country road a car came the other way and clipped his mirror off! He wasn't impressed! Another example was many years ago my mum took me swimming and i asked her how we were going to make dinner when we got home, she said "with the oven, how else!?" and i said we couldn't as there would be no electricity, sure enough about half an hour after we got home there was a power cut so it was sandwiches for tea that night!! My parents now say i am a witch, whether these things are coincidence or not i have no idea but i do think there is more going on in the universe than we are all aware of!

I agree with you totally about if people believe in something strongly enough that they can make it happen. That is kinda neat how you "predicted" that stuff, maybe you are a little psychic and you just don't know it. Happy MyLotting!

fortune cookies bring good mood, and it is similar that blessings bring encouragement. some chinese families do like this--when making dumplings, they make some common dumplings and a special one which cotains one coin in it. common dumplings and special one are put togethor to eat.who can eat the special dumpling and get the coin in it, that means the person will have a good luck. it is very interesting.

Hello singlemommy, I never ate fortune cookies but honestly, I don't really believe anything like this. If whatever said happens, I consider that as co incidence. But as usual, I love to read all this *smiles*

I don't believe that they have any real meaning. THey are fun to open though. Last time I went to a Chinese place, my fortune cookie said your lucky number is the number 5. Then I looked at the back and my lottery numbers didnt include 5. I thought that was pretty funny.

I don't put much faith in what my fortune cookies say. My son has gotten a few that actually describe him before, but I think it is really more the luck of the draw than anything.

I never believe them because they never come true. Sometimes they are kind of stupid and don't make any sense. Other times they are funny and sometimes they are meaningful, but yet they never come true. I think they could come true but only if I made them. LOL
