No, I have never had a bad experience with E-Bay. I have been a buyer and seller for 6 years and it's been a very good experience for me. I think there are some catagories, where there may be more abuse and problems, such as electronics and knock-off products such as watches, purses etc. The best way to protect yourself is by checking the feedback of the seller...if they have negative feedback, don't buy from them.

out of the couple of years that I have been on Ebay, I've only had one. I purchased a shirt awhile back, paid for it, and never got it. I didn't spend alot of money--it was under $10..but still I lost $10 and the chance to have a cool shirt..
But that's the only problem I have ever had (knock on wood) I sell jewelry on ebay now and seem to have some luck with it every now and then :) I sold 5 handmade bracelets last month :)

I have been buying and selling on Ebay for 3 years now. Only thing I have to say to buyers is READ the auction!! Look at the description and see how it is described. Look at shipping costs and see what they are and if you have any questions about an item ask the seller BEFORE you make on anything. I have only had one problem and that was with an item I was selling. The winner of the auction refused to pay because they thought the shipping cost was to high, but I live in the US and they were from England so they should have read what the shipping casts were before they made the bid. So just make sure you read everything in the auction and if you don't understand something ask the seller questions.

Most of my experiences have been great on ebay, but I did have one bad experience. I bought a gameboy camera and printer for my little brother, from two different sellers. The camera came in fine, but the printer seemed to be taking a while. So I went to email the seller and his account had been deleted! He had a ton of complaints right before his account was deleted, he'd run off with a bunch of people's money. I couldn't even get a refund because I'd paid by money order. So I don't pay for anything on ebay anymore unless I can pay by credit card or thru paypal so it's protected and I can get a refund if this type of thing happens again.
I have been a member of ebay since 1997 (my parents took over my original account though when I moved out) and actually most of what I wore to my wedding was purchased on ebay! Everything but my understuff and shoes. It's a great place to find a bargain, just be careful, read feedback, etc.

good advice about the feedback.. people that care have good feedback.. and though i understand that its difficult sometimes to get your "feedback off the ground" in the beginning as a new user.. i still wont buy or sell to people with less then 5 total... and i read them ALL!

I've never used Ebay, I don't really trust it all that much right now. I knew of someone who used Ebay to sell stolen items and a girl I knew in college, her husband entered a online job and ended up selling stolen items also. You never know if what you buy is legit or not.

Yes, BUT NOT WITH EBAY.
There was this seller selling a NEW video game system that had been completely sold out in Every store where I live. The stores had a LOOOONG waiting list of people who also wanted this system, so I went to ebay and found a seller who was selling this particular game system. As a matter of fact, he had several. I wanted one for our son so I bid on it and got 1. Naturally, I sent in my money via USPS money order and waited for a response from the seller regarding my order. He never responded so I had to look into this seller.
He was a FRAUD. He didn't have a single game system, yet he took several people's money and never delivered the product.
I went through the Postal Service, gathered information and contacted Ebay. After some time, Ebay refunded Most of my money.
So eBay is a respectable place to get what you are looking for.

I've been an eBay buyer and seller for over 5 years now and have only had 2 problems...not receiving items I paid for. Now I will only pay through PayPal because they will take back your payment from the buyer if you can show proof you've contacted them about not having received the item you paid for. So be sure to save any correspondence between you and the other party (and from PayPal if that's how you pay). I have a separate folder set up just for eBay transactions, and that does help. Before you ever bid on an item, be sure you check out the feedback of the seller. If they have recent negative feedback, don't even bother to bid. If their feedback percentage is really high (say over 96% if they have a large feedback number), you can probably trust them. I get many good bargains on eBay, but I usually only bid on items being sold by someone with a very high positive feedback percentage.

yes, I've had people sell me fraudelent things and then not refund my money after I have returned the items. I've had people get me suspended...(I am no longer suspended) I've had people give me negative reviews, when clearly they were psycho!

I've only used ebay a few times but all times it was a very good experience. I've heard horror stories and my brother in law, who uses them a lot, has had a few instances that he was really screwed over but for the most part he's had good things happen too.
