3rd iPod nano

i'm not that techie person and i haven't bought anything besides computer, cellphone and few months ago, my digital camera. recently, i just got my iPod nano3. and i've been having trouble to put songs and videos in it. i thought i could simply use windows media player. but i have to download itunes (and quicktime) simply because it owned by apple. i successfully sync songs to my iPod. but been wondering 'what about videos?' yeah, and i just discovered that we can't download videos from youtube. if i have to buy software that costs 2000 yen, i think it will be worth it. but i think i'll just surf the net first for free downloadable softwares for this stuff. care to share some website link where i can find such software?
