Song that's stuck in my head - don't know what it is!!

I've got a song stuck in my head, it's quite an old one but i can't remember what it is called or who sung it! It's about a man leaving a girl by the river and leaving her safe as though he has bee naccused of killing her! One of the lyrics goes "i swear i left her by the river, i swear i left her safe and sound"
has anyone got any ideas as to what this song is and who sung it?

Hi Munchkin, the sond is by Richard Marx and the name of it Hazard. The album is Rush Street that was released in 1991. Go to www.purelyrics.com and you can find the whole song. Hope thats the right one :-)
