Do you ever lurk around Mylot?

Yesterday I lurked around Mylot all day, mostly
reading posts and discussions.
But I didn't really respond to any, cause my hands
hurt too bad to type.
And I really wanted to respond!
That was the hard part. Just reading and not saying
anything.
Do you ever hang out and read discussions
without responding? Do you ever feel
as if you are lurking?

Yeah, I do that all the time. I think I read a lot more than I respond to which is why I don't have 20,000 next to my name or anything. I often go back and look at old discussions by changing the question ID number which is listed at the end of every post. My hands also hurt a lot of times because I'm typing all day. And, at work, I do a lot of repetitive motion.

I am going to have to find out more about
the question ID. I am missing that one.
And I thought I knew a lot about Mylot!

Lately I'm finding that my brain
wishes a vacation also.
Ironic timing that my body would
break down at the same time.

Sometimes I just zip through and read things because my brain hurts too much to respond. Did I miss out on something? What have you done to your hands to make them hurt?

Sorry! I forgot to do an official post about it.
I've had bad tendinitis since Monday morning.
It flares up and subsides.
At least I think it's tendinitis. It burns and hurts
my hands/fingers as if they are being bitten by ants.
It started in my left hand and now is in both
hands going up to my elbows.
Right now it's only in my left pinky finger.
I have been resting my hands for a couple days and
they feel better.
I'm hopeful the rest will heal my hands.
But you never know.

Yep. I lurk around message boards too sometimes. Sometimes I just feel like reading what others have to say about something. SO I'll just sit back and read things without posting. Lurking isn't something that you should feel ashamed of, lol. It's fun, in a weird peeping tom kind of way.

Thanks for saying so! I did feel kind of weird and
wondered if anyone else had lurked lately.
But the time lurking did give me a chance to read
ALL the responses on posts and really immerse myself into
discussions.
Not something I would usually have time to do.
Fascinating!

Sometimes, I do I spend time reading discussions that which caught my interest but ended up not responding it and go and look for another interesting things to read. Just merely reading and not responding makes me feel good at times. for me, it is a form of relaxation. Then I realize that I have to compensate the the I spend on the net because I am paying for it so, I prompt to send my response to the others that I find it easy to make a point to reply to.

I'm sorry your hands were hurting yesterday and it's good to see that you're doing better today, beautyqueen.
I sometimes read for awhile before getting active on the site but I don't have all that much free time online so I try to make the most of it when I do get on.

Thank you for your well wishes and sentiments!
It's nice to be back among friends.
I'm just on for a few minutes today so that
my hands don't seize up again and start
cramping.
I am restricting myself with typing.
But I did want to check in to see how everyone is doing!
Thank you for your response!

I have never eer een a lurker on here. I am involved in as much as I can be inoled in, during my days on MyLot. It's pretty hard o lurk, when here is an e-mail ox ull o friend notifications waiting for responses, and o many ieresting hings o discuss.

I usually do this when I first get on here so that I can figure out where I want to start with my responses. I never do things in the same way here and I always try to find new things that I can comment on around here. I like to read several areas before I start answering things.

Hi Beautyqueen, LOL, The only ones I have really lurked in as such have been the ones that are a bit naughty always trying to pluck up the courage to respond but never feeling daring enough too but other than that I will just respond to a discussion if I feel I can. Ellie :D

Ditto! I get so flustered trying to flirt
online. I'm no good at it!
My best friend in the whole wide world is
the mistress of flirty chat online.
She is so super cool.
I'm just a plain ol' mom.
I missed the exit for cool awhile back.
Maybe it'll come around again when I hit my forties
and my kid is in her teens!
I'll be the super cool flirty mom in her forties,
embarrassing the heck out of my daughter with my short
mini skirts and gorgeous tan!

beautyqueen, you made me laugh. I never thought of poking around in mylot as lurking.
I jump around and read without posting as well. I learn much that way. I have to get over my feelings of guilt because I'm enjoying my time here without earning money.
Isn't that just the way of America? If we're not earning money, we're losers. Oh well.
I'll watch for you lurking about and say hi next time I see you.
Let's go have fun.

You betcha! I guess it is an American phenomenon!
If it doesn't pay it's a waste. What a shame.
I think I'm going to have to hang up my typing fingers
before long if the pain doesn't go away.
I'm getting a one day reprieve and catching up some.
But I can tell the end is near.
Already I'm scoping out other less intensive paying
jobs.

Thank you for your kind words.
I fear the pain is related to something
serious as well. I hope not.
I will rest awhile and post less, but I won't
be gone completely!

Occasionally I do, when there are no discussions that I have interest in or I have nothing to respond about. That is usually when I do it. I don't really like to though because I feel like I am getting nothing done. Yesterday I lurked around for a couple of minutes then I was like alright I need to start responding.

I was lurking around mylot yesterday but was also starting and responding to discussions. On my days off, its the only time I can really concentrate on mylot without being disturbed but we also had workmen popping in yesterday so I was hibernating in the living room on the computer!!
I often lurk trying to find interesting discussions that catch my attention!!
Happy lurking and hope your hands dont hurt too much!!!

I do that sometimes, when I'm not really in the mood to "talk". I just go through some of the posts and read what people are saying. Sometimes yes, I feel like a lurker, but other times I just really don't feel like typing or anything because of the mood I'm in, so I just don't. I guess I'm just weird like that.

Yeah I have done the same thing a few times. Then I got worried about if I had the right answer for the discussion or not. So i stopped and didn't answer. I get arm and hand pain myself. I hope you get to feeling better.

No wonder. I have those days too aside from my no myLot mood day. I found a very interesting topic, most of the time a very lengthy one, I was so engross with it and got carried away. I couldn't add more so I end up reading similar discussion. Sometimes I even search the net outside myLot, so when I get back I've lost my responding mood and end up doing something else.

Mylot is a completely different place when a person
can't respond! It's amazing how many people are talking
all at the same time.
I will have to remember to spend some days just looking
and reading and not responding.
It will be a good thing for me, I think!
Thanks for your post!

What a good way to rest your hands. I bet you made note of several discussions. That way you could post to them when your hands feel better. No, I can't say I have ever lurked. I just take a break for a day or 2. I hope your hands have felt better today.

Yes I did, indeed! I saw many that I would
have loved to respond to.
But now that a day or two has passed, I can read
many more responses and add an even more relevant
answer than before!
I may use this technique from here on out!
It was so much fun just to read and absorb and not
respond.

At times I may just lurk around and read. But then I always come across something I want to respond to. I don't think I have ever not responded when here. Sometimes I may just comment to responses on my discussions but that still counts as responding. I spend a lot of time reading before I find some to respond to. I only respond to about 10 discussions an hour as I spend more time reading them than responding to them. But it is still fun to just read. It is interesting to see the different types of postings. I find that the posts from other countries a little harder to respond to because they are usually about stuff I don't know about. But I like to read them since they are interesting, I like to learn new things.
But most of the time I am in mylot I am doing more than just reading.

I do coz I log onto mylot everyday & normally stay on there all day - even while I'm doing other things...I go through alot of discussions also & respond to the ones that interest me or that I've had experience with etc.

I think I'm going to be taking off a day or two
just to hang out with family. During that time
I might be reading some discussions, but not lots
of responses. It's still fun though and helps me
stay connected with my friends on Mylot!

hi beautyqueen yep I sometimes lurk and read responses then realize I am wasting time when I want to do my own responses
but its not lurking in any sense of stalking, which is a
whole different, ugly thing. I am a peaceable person and would not stalk but sometimes i get carried away reading all the other responses then realize I am here to do responseslol lol lol.

Yes, I do that as well.
I read and read and love the discussions
and then lose track of time.
I had no idea there were so many words in existence
outside a library!
