I was rearranging my flowers that I recieved from my friend and I cut the stems, took out the greenery..(too much of that)...and placed them so neatly in the vase.... I placed them on my counter and was so happy.... Until.....I walked past today and they are drooping...I couldn't understand why they had drooped so quickly... They I realized.....I forgot to put water in the vase..... Poor flowers.....laying there lifeless...I rushed them to the sink, filled the vase with water...hopefully they will come back...... Another one to add to my list of oops!!!! So, what is your story? Ever forgot to do something?

Those poor blooms! Don't feel bad though...hubby had to transplant an entire rose bush in our yard because I had forgotten to water it for a week or so during the really bad heat wave a month ago. It was drying out badly, and I couldn't figure out why for the life of me. Hubby dug it up to move it to a different spot, and the dirt was BONE DRY! Oh...and I've also done a real doozy at the store I used to manage. I got the coffee filters put in the coffee makers, put in the coffee, and pushed the button on the machine to get it started. Notice a step missing? I forgot to put the coffee pots under the spigots! Talk about a major mess and a huge DUH moment! LOL

I've done that with the coffee pot before... I've also forgotten to pour the water from the pot into the machine and set it down on the burner and gone back later for a cup to find plain water sitting there. At least I wasn't a manager in a public place, hahahaha!

One day this past winter, I was feeling oh so efficient and organized. I had just cleaned my kitchen spotless and put a pot of garbanzo beans on to use in my salads. While they were cooking I came in to my computer and started typing a long missive to a friend that I was calling a 'Not Really News Letter'. I had been at it for quite a while when I noticed the smell of something burning. One of my kitties was sitting really close to the heater and I chased him away because I thought the burning smell was his fur. But the smell didn't go away, it kept getting stronger and stronger, as I sat there typing away with this story and that story. All of a sudden it hit me "MY GARBANZO BEANS!!!" I took off running into the kitchen to find my beautiful white enamel pot had turned black and it was full of smoking charcoal.

Oops. I just realized this discussion is posted in the gardening category so I'll tell you a plant story too. In the spring I take all my house plants out to the patio for the warm weather and bring them back in in the fall. A couple of them I had transplanted into huge pots and had not been able to find a receptacle to set them in, so had just placed them on the floor without one until I could find something. A couple of weeks later I watered all the plants and went off to make breakfast or something. When I came back in the room later there was a small lake in the middle of my floor. I thought "What the hell?!" It was then I remembered the thing I had forgotten to do.
