I have a problem grinding my teeth while I sleep. I was just curious if other people have the same problem. It sometimes gets so bad that I wake myself up. So anyone have any comments, or have any tips or remedies they can share.

Hi! i don't grind my teeth personally but i used to be a dental nurse and encountered many patients who did. People usually grind their teeth in their sleep because they are stressed and tense, so maybe think about if there is anything that is getting to you at the moment that might be causing this and then obivously go on to think about possible ways of resolving your stresses. Continuous grinding can result in damaging your teeth so it might be an idea to visit your dentist. The often make something called a bite raising appliance which is like a retainer or gum shield that you wear at night, this stops the upper teeth coming into contact with the lower so you can't do any damage! It's definitely not a nice thing to experience as it can cause disturbed sleep, aching jaws in the morning and headaches so i hope that this has helped, even if just a little bit and that you stop grinding soon!
