can i hook a wirless mouse to a desktop instead of a laptop?

could you please give me suggestions to how i can do this im puzzled?

Of course you can, simply swap the dongle from the laptop to the desktop and use it in exactly the same way. A mouse does not really care whether you use a laptop or desktop computer.

I just recently did this when one of my kids spilled juice on our keyboard. It seems all the new ones are wireless so I consulted the salesperson and they informed me that you just need a USB mouse receiver. I bought a new keyboard that came with the mouse and receiver and it works great!

Yes you may, you'll just have plug in the USB mouse receiver to your desktop.
