I have been having trouble sleeping lately. I go to sleep but I cant stay asleep. I wake up at least once an hour and can not go back to sleep. The Dr put me on some meds but so far they are not helping much if any. Have you ever had problems sleeping?
What do you do when you cant sleep?
Any tips for me?

I think your mind is too preoccupied. I don't turn to medicines as much as possible because it can be addictive. I try to blank my mind and not think of anything. You can drink warm water or warm milk before retiring for the night. you can also shut the blinds and make the room dark so you get sleepy. you can also have some lavender scent to make you more relaxed and have calmer senses. Lastly, you can play soothing music to help you wind down and relax. Goodluck, I hope you find what's right for you to have a good sleep.

You are correct, I cant seem to shut my mind off. It keeps working no matter what I do. Our bedroom is dark. Totally dark. I have not tried the lavender yet. I should have thought of that. Thanks so much

When i cant sleep, i sing a lullabye to myself, or read a book til my eyes get tired. I also listen to love songs, or I try to scare myself that if i dont sleep, I'll get dark circles on my eyes in the morning! haha...

Hello my friend, I often have this problem and it's usually because I have way too much going on in head. The most effective thing for me is relaxation music. I love listening to music that is the sound of the ocean and birds with soft music behind it. That always work for me. It sooooo soothing. I just lay with my eyes and listen to sound of nature. It is very relaxing.

I drink coffee and stay online. You should read books because if eyes become tired, you can easily sleep.

You don't have to force yourself
if you can't really sleep. Read a book,
or else stare at the wall of your room.
The purpose is to make your eyes tired.
Until you fell sleep. Relax your mind.

I too have had trouble sleeping. The last few days I have slept well mainly because I have been feeling sick but before I kept waking up at various times during the night. From what I hear, reading a book will help you fall asleep. Drinking a glass of warm milk is another idea. You may want to listen to some music as well. If you have any cds with various nature sounds, that may help as well.

When I can't sleep I jut listen to the documentaries on the BBC World Service. The university station in Guelph broadcasts the BBC World service at night. It's not often that I ca't sleep though. The fastest way for me o get to sleep is to know a prgram is coming up, and to plan to stay awake for it. LOL That happened the other day. I was happy that I was able to listen to the show on the internet the next day, since I missed it on the radio because I acutlaly wet to sleep. LOL

I have trouble sleeping alot of times too. I have so many things going on in my life right now also and that does not help much. I usually get to sleep after tossing and turning for about an hour or so. I sleep for about four hours and then I am up again. I just get up and work until I get sleepy again and then I go and lay back down and try to take me a nap. sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. I haven't tried any meds. What kind are you taking? My daughter is on pain meds right now called Vicodin and they not her right out.

I wind down a couple of hours before trying to sleep, make sure I don't need to go to the toilet and if I cant sleep, I normally go through the alphabet starting with a and think of a 4 letter word for a. Sounds weird but it works for me

I watch something boring on TV until I start to drift. It's the fastest way I know. I sometimes play guitar and that takes up a lot of energy and in a few hours I'm like spent after that. I've heard that drinking warm milk helps.

It sucks not being able to sleep, and I especially have trouble sleeping at night, because I have insomnia most of the time,so most of the time I will stay up all night ,and sleep during the day,but now that I am with my fiance and she lives me with at my parents house,I do not have as much trouble sleeping, but if me and my fiance can not sleep,we will usually either mylot until we get tired,or we will listen to soothing music,or we will watch the golf channel,if you can not sleep, the golf channel is a good way to put you to sleep lol.
