Yeah... but updating needs a little budget. So we usually wait for some computer parts to go sale first.

Personally, besides the Updates that Windows XP might give, or Vista for my laptop, I have not done much with my Computers. I bought a bigger hard drive for my home computer over a yr. and a half ago, but have still never figured out how to utilize it so my other space would not fill up in my harddrive.

I have in the past on my old one and just added memory to my laptop less than a month ago. It's pretty easy to do some upgrades and by doing the easier stuff you save money. If you do it yourself all you pay for is parts and not the labor so is nice.

While it's great to learn about your computer's equipment and to be able to repair them, it is also extremely important to keep your focus on adding/replacing hardware since all it takes is a little shock to stop the computer from starting up. The other goody out of it is that you become involved with a project that requires your full attention and this releases you from other personal activities around the house.

Yes. sometimes I get an alert on my computer about the virtual memory being low. My computer will automatically update itself to make more space avaialble on my computer. I have never manually updated it myself though. I am glad my computer has a mind of its own for that kind of thing because I would not know where to start with it.

Before a memory updrage will do for improving performance but lately due to fast techno improvement newer memory module of different form is a lot cheaper then older one. But these new memory module require a new board and of course a new processor. It would be a much better option these days to update mobo, processor and ram all together, a bit expensive but one would save more in the long run.

Computer technology is moving very quickly. I try to upgrade as much as I can but I plan it really well as it could get real expensive. When I last upgraded, my PC can do lots of stuff and can handle applications and games in its time. But now, it's becoming real hard for my PC just to open them. It's high time to upgrade to a better system. New processor, new video card, new platform maybe and more RAM.
If you're into games a lot, an upgrade will be your priority. If it's just for internet and windows applications, a memory upgrade, would do fine.
