I had to default on an e-bay buy....

So, my step sister was jazzed to buy a new cell phone, from e-bay (I had had a lot of luck getting her mom's new phone on e-bay). Well, we sat down, found the phone that she wanted (a nice one really palm trio) and I put in the bid. Well, the next day my step-sis and step-mom decided to completely change carriers. Well, now I am stuck with a winning bid on a phone that I have neither the money for nor the interest in (I already have a palm pilot of my own). So, what are he possible repercussions of defaulting on a bid (I wrote the seller and told them about what happened, but haven't heard back from them yet.)?

oh dear i'm so sorry to hear that. i think the seller should understand now that you've informed them even before the auction closes. it's an unfortunate series of event and i don't think you want it that way. the worst thing is the seller giving you a negative rating. however i don't think they should do it since you've already wrote them. best of luck and hope that they'll understand. cheers ;p

Thanks, yeah, stuff happen sometimes unfortunately. I did inform the seller, but have not heard anything back. I suppose they may have rated me badly (I haven't checked), but that is their prerogative....

Hi DarkDancer Well i did that on ebay once on a very lovely gothic dress think you know whatI mean..but unfortunatley found I didn't have the money for it so just kept deleting the message when it came through haven't heard a thing since and that was about 2mnths ago bright blessings littleowl

Well you are in a right pickle, try again to get back to the seller and if no joy you are stuck and then you can try and sell it back. Good luck.
