After starting a discussion, what do you do next?

Do you leave it and go responding to other discussions or start others?
Or do you stop for a while to watch your discussion grow and receive
responses?
I usually stop for a while, refresh my page a couple of times to
see if there have been some responses already. Usually, I wait some
10 minutes refreshing the page. And then I would go to the "discussions with no responses" and see it there. After some 5 more
minutes, it would go to the second page and I would be praying so
hard that time because I know my discussion have a lesser chance to get a response.
What do you usually do after starting a discussion?

Whenever I'm done posting a discussion that I have just thought of a while before, I'd simply go back to the usual routine of checking if I got new replies to my posts and comments and see if my other discussions as well have been given new replies or comments.
I have made a couple of discussions that either had a few responses or those that didn't have any up to now but, that's okay. I always think that its either the topics are not catching anyone's interests or other who do have the same interest with it haven't yet seen it to participate.
It'll have a response if it will but, as of the moment, if there aren't any yet, I'd just keep on what I've been doing before and perhaps start some new discussions again if something crosses my mind

That's a good way of thinking about it. That those that share the same interest has yet to see your discussion and participate in it If you really want to get your discussions easily be viewable, aside starting them on their right topics of interests, you should also add more tags that are related to the discussions so that when others try use the search feature of the site, your discussions would most probably be among the results.. though, I think you already know those things. Anyway, as long as it gets updated with more and more responses, it will always be among those discussions that are among the 'recent' ones.
I see that you have nothing to hate about since all your friends somehow participate in all the discussions that you begin
If you have discussions with no response, you can PM me the link
so I can respond to it if I have something to share.
Thanks for the suggestion but, that's okay. I'm guess you have already participated in some of the ones that I have started.
Have a nice day too!

I am always thinking that it is the other reason: "that the one
who have the same interest with it haven't yet seen it to
participate". And what makes me worry is that, What if they won't
have the chance to see the discussion because it has been covered
but other newer and fresher discussions.
I just hate my discussions having no responses. So I am always
hoping that someone would response to my discussion as soon as
possible.
So far, I have been thankful to my friends here for always
responding to my discussions. I don't have discussions yet with
no response.
If you have discussions with no response, you can PM me the link

You are right about the tagging. I usually make two tags before
I let my discussion to start rolling. So the other ones are really
not from me. I let other respondents to tag this discussion too
with any tags they want.
And I am really hoping for more responses so the discussions will
be kept active and stay on the 'recent' discussion lists more.
That way, I will have more exposure and more responses.

It is sometimes hard to wait for them because you don't know
who is online and who is not. So waiting is really hard if
I don't know if my friends are online.
But sometimes, I look for discussions under the "friends started"
and see who is around and I respond them hoping they will
respond to my discussion too. Of course, I am not obliging
them to respond to my discussion but I am just hoping.
Thank you for your time.

That is also one way of checking out who of your friends are online.
I also use that sometimes but I don't really know who are the
friends to expect from. I have a lot of friends and they seem to
respond to my discussion always but I don't think I can pick
someone who I can say will always respond to my discussion no
matter what.
Good for you for knowing friends like that.

I just go about my way reading other discussions and answering to them. Sometimes I go back to see if there are replyes to my discussions on the same day and sometimes I wait until the next day. I always do go back to check if anyone has replied. Because I always like to reply to their responses.

Sometimes I am so worried about the discussion I have
started that I can't concentrate giving responses to
other discussions. I sometimes end giving less responses
and unfocused replies.
But I think I should change that attitude. I have just recently
learned of the notification feature which would really ease
my worry of the discussions I have started.

After starting a new discussion I will spend at least half an hour doing something else, or continue adding responses to other people's discussions. Then I check my email to see if I have any myLot notifications of receiving new responses.
I start a discussion when I know I will be online for an hour or more, then I can comment on new responses soon after they are made. I know that each time I check my email I may have some more responses to comment on.
When I finish for the day I know that in the morning I can expect to see some more new responses to my discussion. I know some poeple start many discussions in a day so they will always get new responses, but I start so few discussions it's always exciting for me to see I have a new response to one of them!

I have just discovered the usefulness of turning the notification
about new responses on. And I think I will be using more of it
in the future.
I like your way that you would make sure that you have an hour
before starting a discussion to keep the discussion alive. I think
that is a very responsible act to do. From now on, I will be doing
it too. Thanks for the input.

Hi richiem. I have a toolbar icon on my page. So whenever I start a discussion, I go to discussions my friends started or from my interest and do my business. If I see the icon I will check my email for notifications if someone replied to me. It is more easier for me. But there were times, that I would wait until someone responds to my new topic before I go on. Happy postings. HUGZ!

That toolbar icon is very helpful.
I would just like to ask if that icon is also available in
Firefox? I know I get that kind of icon and it quickly shows if
I have new mail in Internet Explorer but I don't know yet
if it is also true in Firefox.
I am new in using a Firefox browser.

I see it now. It is shown with a bell when new messages come in.
I think it is there before but I hadn't noticed it because I am

hi friend, i usually continue to respond other people's discussions when i start a new discussion myself.I think it is wasting time to wait for other people to respond yours..If i can wait 10 minitues for the comment,it means i have lost 2 responses for others.lol.so my friend, not waiting, just go ahead.

Yeah, maybe I am just wasting my time doing what I have been
doing in the past. It's just taking up my time and I am being
unproductive just watching my discussion to get responses.
Yes, the 10 minutes can really be useful if I would make
more responses with it.
Thanks for the advice. From now on I will not be monitoring
my started discussion too often.

I will go respond to other discussions, I don't post discussions a lot of times because I haven't got many bright ideas on starting new discussions that aren't allready out there. Basicly everything has been on sometime and I don't want to post a double discussion.

I also don't start a lot of new discussions lately because I am
running out of new ideas. And I am also worried that I may
duplicate topics, so I would search first before I start a new
one.
But I have read that the admin says it is ok to start a
discussion on the same topic as long as the similar discussion
is now old and irrelevant and that you would give a new
angle to the topic. So we can still touch topics like that.

Hello richiem,
After starting a new discussions. I leave and forgot about it. I start looking for discussions to post to and start working on it. I just leave my discussions and don't anticipate anything because I can't control if someone will response or not response. I don't worry much about it.
But while I am posting to discussions, I see to it that I look into my new discussions. If someone responses, I go and read the response and give comment. This go on until the day no one is responding anymore.
Everyday I make sure to check my discussions and see if someone responses so I can give comment and make my discussions active again. I only start a few discussions so that it's easier for me to give comments and give the best responses. I kind of like to post to discussions better than start a new one.

Hello richiem,
That's very thoughtful of you to prioritize your friends discussion before anything else. That's very admirable. For me I usually look for discussions I am familiar with, either friends or not. I am more focus on my earning here that's why I choose some discussions I can post easier. I do post also to myfriends discussions but not like you do. Have a good one.

That may be the benefit of starting only a few discussions. With
this you can have more time commenting on the responses to
your discussions and keeping it active and alive and attracting
more responses.
Before I have the rule of resolving my discussions after a day so
I can start a new one and forget about the resolved discussion.
But now I am thinking about it again. But I don't want it to
take long before I select a best response.
Before, I always check my discussions for new response but now that
I have limited time, I just respond to my friends discussion because
I think it is more productive and helpful not only for me but
for my friends also.
Have a nice day!

I cannot say that I respond to all my friends' discussions. But
when I am looking for a discussion to respond to, I would first
go to the "friends started" tab. And most of the time I find some
discussions I can respond to in there.
Also, my priority here is the earnings and I prefer responding
to discussion to where I can respond easier. Looks like my
friends are good in making that kinds of discussions.

I check back every once in awhile to see if someone has answered. If they have i feel happy. I like to have respsones of course. The more the better. it is disappointing if you get very few responses. You feel like nobody likes you, or that you started a dumb discussion or soemthing. Usually if you wait long enough though you will have responses.

I like having a lot of responses too. It really make me happy
to have them in my discussions. And it is sometimes frustrating
when my discussion would not have any responses for about
45 minutes to one hour. It feels like my discussion have
failed and I keep thinking what have I done wrong? Is it the
title? Do they understand what I mean? But I am thankful that
I always receive responses.
I usually start responses wherein a lot of mylot members can
relate to and share their own experience. That way, I get more
responses.
And you are right, responses doesn't all come on the first day.

I leave it for awhile and lurked around the site. I'll respond to other discussions while waiting if there's a response. I used yahoo messenger so I'll know if there's a new mail alerting me that I have received responses or comments. There are times as well, if I am too excited to see the response, I'll visit my discussion once in a while, like after 15-20 minutes.

I am very excited often that is why I wait for it to get a response'
before I go on with my other business. And I think I am also
worried that my discussion won't get any response at all that is
why I have to wait until it gets one.
But I think I have to change that method. I should make use of my
time more productively and just come back to it after some time.

Well, I haven't started very many discussions, but I usually just go and do something else and when I check my email later there might be some replies! I don't take it personally if only a couple of people answer, as there are so many discussions to reply to, and everyone must receive heaps of notifications each day if they all have their friends turned 'on'. Also, I understand that people may not be interested in certain topics - so that's fine, too. I haven't had anybody being rude or unkind yet on myLot - so that's a nice change!

I think I am the only one in here that doesn't have the
notification for new responses turned on. I have turned it off
before because I am always here in mylot and I have more time
so I see no use in looking at my mail just to find out who
have responded to my discussions.
But now, I don't have that much time here so I think I should turn
that notification on again.
It's good that you have not met rude people here. I think I also
haven't met people like that. I am thankful to all of you
that so far all of my discussions are responded to.

Hie Richiem, I normally will carry on searching for interesting topics to respond to or make comments whether my friends' or others. I wouldn't worry too much about my discussions getting responses or not as I would get a mail alert notification as soon as I get one. I have a separate email account for this and I have confidence that my friends will response to my topics.
If I don't get any responses in certain amount of time and it is a pressing topic that I need some answers then I would revive it into a topic of discussion instead.
I believe it is always bad timing at times when it was posted and not many mylotters have noticed it.
Cheers and best wishes.

I usually blame it on wrong timing when my responses don't get
a lot responses. I have a discussion which received no response
before and I don't feel good about. I just thought maybe
my friends are not online at that time or maybe they are
engage in more interesting discussions.
I have turned my notification for new responses only lately so
I was not able to use it before. But now I think I would rely
on it whenever I start a discussion.
Reviving a discussion in another topic is a good advice. Thanks!

I have turned the notification on so when anybody responds to my discussions then i get notified. So i don't have to wait. If i get a response i try to give feedback to the responders. I think if you do so then your discussions will get more response knowing that they will get a feedback.

I think it is also to rely on the notification than rely on manual
waiting because waiting and doing nothing would be very unproductive.
I also give feedback to the responses in my discussions so as to
keep the discussion active and a more lively one rather than
just a question and answer routine.

My G-d, I could never worry that much about every post like that. I guess I am too busy. I think of posts as good questions and as long as they are asked under the correct category and it will answered. So I just let my questions flow out into the world of MyLot and most get answered. Some right away, others weeks later. But I would go insane waiting to see If they were answered.

Usually after I post a discussion and if I still have some time to spend here I go back to my email to respond to the email notifications with discussions from my friends. Eventually there will be notifications of answers to my own discussion and I will address them at that time.
I don't worry much, though. Sometimes it takes time to get some responses, and sometimes we never get responses. I still have one discussion from way back that I wasn't able to resolve because it has no answers to choose for best response.
I don't take it personally. I don't take anything here too personally. I am here to relax and enjoy my time, so I won't allow myself to worry :)

hi
after starting a new discussions,i usually go to some other discussions stated by my friends or discussions frm my interests.i respond to couple of them and then come back to see if my discussion has recvd any responses.if i do recv responses(usually i dnt recv many)i ensure that i do reply them back thanking for their response.usually its very rare in my case that i have recvd instant reples.but i think its different in ur case.it must be appreciated that u recvd more then 100 responses for this discussuion, the best i have recvd so far is 25 responses.

This is my best discussion so far if we are talking about the
number of responses received. I am very happy for this.
For me, the key is having a lot of active friends. You really
don't know how many of your friends are active so you just
need to have a lot of friends.
And also, start discussions where anyone can respond to no
matter what their age, location and gender are.

Maybe it is really out of our control. All we can do after starting
a discussion is to comment on the responses so as to let
the respondents know that their responses are appreciated. I also
respond back to them when I can share something to the discussions
they have started. That is also to show my appreciation.
